This art style focuses heavily on black ink and white space. I have added some colour to it as well, while looking to keep that focus on shape and value intact. The artstyle is inspired by Yoji Shinkawa, lead artist and designer for the Metal Gear and Death Stranding series, amongst others.

shiny hunting truly permanently altered my perception of what "rare" means. like. I don't know if I (personally, just me, this is not a declaration of objective reality, etc...) consider things under 1/4096 rare any more. I've just done too much shiny hunting.

but this has it's own issues of now we're relying on rare-blade gacha to get field skills. I guess it could JUST be guaranteed blades, which would solve that problem. IDK basically just do what torna did

I dunno if I have an ideal fix, but I do have an idea (that I don't actually expect because the game is 9 yrs old): - only give field skills to important blades (story blades, rare blades, etc...) - allow any of those blades to add to skill checks regardless of if they're in your party

I don't hunt much, any more. I'm a busy person with a lessening interest in video games. but I don't regret starting that SBQ. It was nothing special, in terms of an SBQ, other than that it was overly long. But my friends and I grew closer over it. My progress in it followed my progress in life.

That fall, my friend group that I had for well over a decade was shattered into pieces. This was difficult for me. And I just didn't have the energy to continue the SBQ, my friends were always half the fun of the whole thing, they were as invested as I was! I didn't feel like finishing it.

And finally, the SBQ was done. I took them to the elite four, proud of how far my team, now fully evolved (except for Gleeok, who was just a Zweilous), had come. I beat N and Ghetisis and then cried because pokemon music is so good. All that was left was to beat the league again to roll credits.

The very next day, I was at work, inbetween sites, hunting in the company truck. and I got Gleeok the shiny Deino. after only 174 encounters!! In total, It was 19742 encounters before I found Gleeok.

Phase 5. Another ant for the ant hill, named Pardon (randomly generated, but apt). The very next day after only 176 encounters. This was a slap in the face, to be honest! How could I be so lucky, and yet so unlucky? but, it was comical, at this point. I kept my spirits up and kept going.

Phase 4. Another durant, named Dump (randomly generated, but apt). a terrible way for a stretch of 10786 encounters to end. Now I was discouraged. it was august of 2024, over three years since I had gotten cobalion, and still no deino. But I was close. So I kept going.

Phase 3. A durant, named Hurl (randomly generated, but apt). 3968 encounters, on July 3 2023. I wasn't exactly pleased, but it was a shiny I didn't have, so I wasn't too discouraged. Now that I had most of the other pokemon in the area, I used a repel trick to increase my odds of getting a deino.

A few months later, after only 1078 encounters, another shiny. I found Ori the Mienfoo on January 8 2023. But I still wasn't worried, I'm sure it wouldn't go on for much longer, right?

But I wouldn't actually start this hunt until 2022, due to burnout and life in general. Once I started though, a shiny came quick... but not deino. After 3560 encounters, I got Gaia the shiny boldore on October 1 2022. Oh well, call it phase 1 and keep going.

I beat the 8th gym, and made it through victory road. I could have stopped there. But, I was riding the high of cobalion. and felt like I had to do one more hunt to finish it off. I had thought about terrakion or verizion, but settled on Deino. It was a pseudo-legendary, and I loved the shiny.

May 12 2021 was the 2-year anniversary for the hunt, so I spent the whole day hunting. and finally, after EXACTLY 2 years, I found Satori the cobalion. a whopping 33274 encounters (over 4x odds). Getting Satori was the end of an era. it felt unreal. It was a historical moment for my friend group.

By May 11 2021, I had reached 4x odds (32768 encounters). At this point, I was no longer frustrated, nor impatient. I point to this hunt as when I truly learned how to be a patient person. It would happen when it happened. It seemed like I may just be hunting cobalion forever.

But of course, I had a lot of free time in 2020. So I hunted alot. and then some. by april of 2021, I had 24576 encounters, and still no shiny. At this point it had become a running joke in my friend group. I was called the antelope wrangler, with my zoo of 24000 antelopes.

After playing to opelucid city, I made good on an idea I had on route 6 - my next hunt would be my first legendary hunt: cobalion. Those who know me know how this ends. it was a slow start, getting about 1000 encounters done in a month, and only reaching half odds by May 2020. Burnout had hit hard.

I didn't know what to do next, so I hunted in iccirus until I got a shiny. The lack of interest and general burnout caused this hunt to go for 7 months. After 10732 encounters, I found Heqet the Palpitoad on May 12 2019. A nice shiny, but I had 6 pokemon on my team already, so I put it in the PC.

On October 10 2018 I found Lunar the shiny Litwick, after a measly 1470 encounters! I remember getting this on the way to visit family I hadn't seen in a very long time. This remains my favourite shiny pokemon to this day, and my second favourite pokemon in general.
