Waiting on the "slate-truck" version of these appliances. The premium luxury brand is too much.

wall dashboard device? I grabbed an older/refurbished android tablet. devices in general - such a deep rabbit hole of Zwave and Zigbee devices. ThirdReality, Aqara, Zooz currently fill the home.

Try good event so far at #DevOpsDaysRox. Cool venue, met some great people, and informative presentations. Also, a few games of pinball during breaks is always helpful for mental health breaks.

I am obliged to post and tag @techconnectify.bsky.social that I have installed a heat pump device in my household. Stay tuned for future metrics, numbers, and graphs.

transcend? No, no. Then we debate the list, as mine is wildly different.

A great proposal. Though to restore trust communities, would we go full open source - e.g. @trafficmonitor.ai and data shared publicly? Options of 'data sovereignty' - anything captured has to be stored in a county-level server, etc.. must be decentralized/federated, no centralized service..

Funny thing about cold climates is they aren't cold all the time. Worst case the heating rods kick in a few hours of the day, but over a whole year the efficiency gains will put you way ahead.

Putting an algorithm between you and the news is not great. We should be talking more about RSS plus subscribing to news sources (your local paper, a regional/state news outlet, etc..).

I'm in a rural-adjacent community, while my home is up a slight hill from the road, the road is about 150ft away, might be too far for a @telraam.bsky.social device - if not I'll get to hacking this integration asap

Luke @lukepatrick.dev · 12/08/2026

Which of you has figured out a @home-assistant.io and @telraam.bsky.social integration? This could be a lot of fun combining a lot of local sensor data.

Unfortunate to see and disappointed in no service today.

Luke @lukepatrick.dev · 29/07/2026

In the "wall around your life" discussion, have you ever used money as the boundary vs time? E.g. Here is how far you can get on $5 (1 gal of fuel, 15-20mi, avg car) vs. the full extent of a transit system. I'm thinking about rural communities, where long drives are inherent to life already.

When you treat human beings as interchangeable typing machines, you forget what software engineering actually is. THE HARD PART OF BUILDING SOFTWARE WAS NEVER THE TYPING. It's understanding the problem, designing a coherent solution, and taking responsibility for the result. 3/8

My newest Citation Needed project made an appearance on @lastweektonight.com! It’s a work in progress, but you can see the new interactive version of my map of the Trump family’s crypto ventures at map.citationneeded.news.

John Oliver speaking on Last Week Tonight, gesturing to an overlay of my web of the Trump family’s crypto businesses. The subtitles say “keeping track of them have wound up making diagrams like this”.
