Watson works for Plantir now? I guess that at least clearly answers any lingering questions there might still have been regarding his character.

It’s kind of a both things are true situation, and depends how far back you compare to. Labour are definitely up in the polls from the lows they reached before Burnham became leader, BUT they are still down from their 33.7% share in the 2024 election.

The media framing this as a disaster for Polanski is nonsense in any case, though.
020
lukens @lukens.io · 9h
There’s still something to be said for Polanski preventing these votes returning to Labour, especially whilst they’re in the “Burnham bounce”. It’s also a little unfair to frame this as them only getting the votes as Feinstein had already tempted them from Labour, as they may have got them anyway.

lukens @lukens.io · 9h
Their gains seem almost entirely due to Feinstein not standing this time though. They made little dent in the votes of the main parties. Labour’s vote fell by 17.4% in this seat at the last election, and just 3.7% this time. I’d love to feel more encouraged by this result, but I’m struggling.

What a stupid way to write opening hours. I thought it was only open for half an hour on Friday and Saturday, until I looked at other days and saw it was am and pm. It also amazes me that 24 hour time still isn’t the standard used everywhere.
Screen shot of opening times showing:

Thursday - 9:30 - 5:00
Friday - 9:30 - 10:00
Saturday - 9:30 - 10:00
Sunday - 9:30 - 5:00

Why don’t we talk more about how one of the most prestigious global culinary awards is given out by a company that makes car tyres? I know the history of it, but it’s still pretty weird, right?

It’s because sound is one way in a TV, so they can’t hear you. They can see you though, as TV presenters often say “see you tomorrow” or “see you next week”. Have you ever tried holding up a sign instead of shouting. That should work.

Umm, but if it was a long long time ago, how could it all be filmed? Movie cameras weren’t invented back then.

Haha, after reading this list I thought “Imagine writing for a film website yet struggling so much to follow a film”, and Derol was a big part of that. Also them clearly not knowing what a plot hole is. Or is it just a deliberately stupid list to get shares?

Let’s not pretend this about about a PM needing to make tough decisions that won’t be popular with everyone. This is entirely about being reassured that Burnham probably won’t rock the boat too much.

lukens @lukens.io · 27/06/2026
They’re not reassured that he is willing to make decisions that will upset some people. They are reassured he is willing to make decisions that will upset the left. They weren’t reassured when Corbyn was willing to make decisions that would upset some people, because they upset the wrong people.

Opponents to PR claim “it will lead to unstable coalition governments”. The only prime minister to have served a full term between two elections in over 20 years was David Cameron, between 2010 and 2015 … whilst leading a coalition government.

It genuinely was just on the TV like that. On a TV, so no mouse to have a pointer. (If it was on a computer I would have taken an actual screenshot rather than get my phone out to take a photo of a screen like some kind of Luddite)

I always thought Alice Blue was called that because of the Disney Alice in Wonderland film. Turns out it’s actually named after Alice Roosevelt Longworth, daughter of Theodore Roosevelt. I did always think it looked nothing like the dress from Alice in Wonderland. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alice_b...

I’d imagine you’d also see reduced gym membership and reduced participation in other physical activities. If patterns like this applied to 1 in 6 people, surely it would be noticeable? These patterns would be noticed and reported, no? Unless the majority of these people only had very mild symptoms

You don’t think 16% of the population having their lives altered would show up in data? People I know with long covid have had to stop work, or reduce hours, or have increased/extended sick leave. They have much more frequent doctor visits.
