Just landed in in New York for Tribeca and the first bus I got on there’s a guy making beats on the seat in front of me. NYC, Baby!!

Was very excited for the chance to be a big sappy dork about my favourite filmmaker and how much his films mean to me. Ikiru literally solves the Meaning Of Life! Pretty good! Big thanks to @etrommater.bsky.social @toadpuppy.bsky.social @jatdog.bsky.social and Audra Angelique for having me!

There are 2 small moments in the film One Battle After Another that closely resemble moments from my film. I choose to take this as irrefutable proof that PTA is a huge fan of my work. Loved talking OBAA with @dougtilley.bsky.social and @liamrulz.bsky.social podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/c...

As we live in the more dumpster fire times now than even three years ago, the disaster character that is Casper is more and more reliable. Some sketches I made last year @artana.bsky.social

Really enjoyed this conversation where we go deep into the movie’s ideas and I even get challenged on some of them. We also talk nerdy filmmaking stuff and of course working with the great Rhys Darby! (I obviously do not co-sign the Quebec OR Cronenberg slander…) #relaximfromthefuture

Pick up somethin' Canadian from boutique brands like Canadian International Pictures or Gold Ninja Video! Or, heck, just look around and see what Canadian film has to offer (like @lukehigginson.bsky.social's awesome RELAX, I'M FROM THE FUTURE).

IF YOU ARE IN ONTARIO PLEASE VOTE TODAY! And please vote with the knowledge that Doug Ford has personally stolen your money, raised your rent, made services in your province objectively worse and directly threatened your child’s education. A failure by any metric! And he’ll win if you don’t vote.

Second viewing of A Different Man last night. Fucking love this movie. Could have gone wrong in a million different ways, but nails its dark, funny, brilliant tone throughout. Scratches a very specific itch I haven’t felt since Being John Malkovich

I always liked David Lynch’s work, but it wasn’t until I started trying to make my own films that I understood how truly special he was.

This was a very fun and thoughtful interview until with about 3 minutes left I answer a question by saying I am ‘pro-history’ and that history is ‘important stuff’, which makes me sound like an absolute moron who has never read a history book.

Happy Holidays, everyone! ❤️

Rhys Darby as Casper in "Relax, I'm From the Future". He's wearing a red and blue sweater and smiling at something over to the right. There is a Christmas tree with white lights out of focus in the background behind him.

If you have ever called a business to complain to the owner about an experience you had with a barber, a cashier, a service worker, etc…I would like you to take a real moment and consider the possibility that you’re a fucking asshole.

Everything my 3-year-old daughter watches is either a charming and delightful work of art or the most evil, soulless CGI abomination I’ve ever seen. To her, they are equally great. This is more difficult for me to accept than her desire to eat dirt.

Just watched The Straight Story for the first time (the only Lynch film I hadn’t seen) and I can’t stop thinking about this monologue. It’s hilarious and strange and sad and kind of profound? Sums up a very specific frustration with being alive today. youtu.be/cCsqyOaPsP4?...
