I don’t dispute that there’s a skill to successfully producing with men on base. That said, saying the #Mariners weren’t good at hitting with RISP is oversimplifying the situation. The M’s overall offense wasn’t good with or without men on base.

Thru 70 home games, the #Mariners rank seventh in total attendance and attendance/game. Also… The M’s have attracted nearly 400,000 more people this year than they did thru 70 contests in 2025. That’s the 4th largest attendance jump in MLB. Yes, the Rays were a special case.

Gonna share same concern I had regarding Colt Emerson. Lazaro Montes entered today with a 30.6% strikeout rate…seventh highest among 145 hitters with 150+ PCL PA’s. I hope the kid is great. But striking out 30% of the time vs AAA is tough for this nerd to ignore. #Mariners

Some #Mariners fans may pushback against Cole Young’s -3 FRV believing he’s a Gold Glove defender, which is fine. I hope Cole takes the trophy home. But… Twelve of 16 GG winners in 2025 (P and UTL omitted) led their position in FRV. The other four had the second highest FRV.

Not only does the #Mariners defense rank last in FRV, it’s arguably the franchise’s worst group since 2018. That’s how far back Statcast’s FRV goes. Compounding matters, FRV is a cumulative metric. Therefore, the season’s final tally could look much worse.
