Germany's economy is in a structural crisis. What is needed is a long-term industrial strategy that identifies and prioritises future-fit industries. 👉Read our new opinion piece by @lukasbe.bsky.social in Tagesspiegel Background: lnkd.in/df-8gF-n
"Longer working hours and tax cuts will not solve Germany's structural economic problems. [...] Germany needs an industrial strategy that does not rely on hope, but actively supports future-fit industries."

The European Council meeting tonight and tomorrow will be unbelievably important for several reasons. One of them is that it should determine the EU response to the fossil energy price shock that has been triggered by the situation in the Middle East.

ZOE's @lukasbe.bsky.social on the pros and cons of #MadeinEU 👇 These tools carry both “big potential and big risks” and should be “targeted”. If properly done, buy-EU clauses could “support local jobs” in sectors like battery production, green steel, or electric vehicles.

With the #CleanIndustrialDeal and the Affordable Energy Action Plan, the #EuropeanCommission wants to reduce energy prices - including through subsidies. While this approach has merit, it bears substantial risks if executed poorly. Find out why 👉 www.delorscentre.eu/en/publicati... #CID

With the CID & Energy Action Plan, the EU wants to support energy intensive industries. Support is needed - but it's crucial that any national subsidies to lower electricity prices don't result in inefficient distortions that end up harming competitiveness and climate. Short🧵 on a new joint OpEd:
