In the prototype version for Earthbound/Mother 2, the sprite for the Ramblin' Evil Mushroom more closely resembles a Goomba. This is likely carried over from Mother 1, which was a Mario game, and scrapped when the series became divorced from the Mario series.

Because of the way lighting is calculated in Super Mario Galaxy, if Mario is facing light sources for too long it may cause lighting errors. For example, if Mario faces Captain Toad's headlamp, the screen will become brighter and brighter, causing Mario to go completely blind.
