My PT thinks it's touch. (He also said many of the newer therapists are not hands on.) It is helpful, and in my case where he does soft tissue work on my frozen shoulder, it is essential. But for me it is more of the feeling that he is on my side, when so many others are indifferent or obstructive.

The reason we keep falling for this, is because that is what we have been led to expect because not many really know how to help us live with chronic conditions. We learn more from each other. Doctors could start by listening.

Yes it was often the monied class in the past. But now people can travel for a fraction of the cost back then, especially if they do it on the cheap. Backpacking through other countries or even the US is still a viable option. You just sound bitter. Sorry you missed out. It is never too late.

Today, in the notes, and not to my face, said I was a clinic hopper. Not true, but maybe ask why. Many specialists are limited or have a long wait when you need help NOW. I had not been back, because they are so chaotic. He was double booked and quite late. Where do I get to put that in the notes?
