2 AI-powered apps with good UX that I actually use in my day to day outside of work: iNaturalist: Snap a pic of an interesting bird or plant, get it identified. Elicit: Ask a scientific question, get papers returned on it. Click into the citations and see the supporting sentence.

Do you know what an SEP is? It stands for Specification Enhancement Proposal, and it's a way to propose changes to the open MCP spec. You can view the list and their statuses at the link below: modelcontextprotocol.io/seps

It's tough to define the mechanisms of human cognition. Given that, can we say AI can replace us? In the age of AI, it might be good to sit with the question of what human thinking is, and let that inform our approach to AI. luciacerchie.dev/articles/ai-...

"A lot of people assumed it was their own fault for not just “getting” it." It's hard to find many major cracks in what you might think is smooth DX for just this reason. This is why honest friction logs over high traffic user flows are so valuable! Quote: this post joelcalifa.com/blog/tiny-wi...

This is a screenshot from the ATProto docs. No leading $, no newline business that gets messed up when I copy this over to the terminal. Might seem trivial, but the seconds it takes to get to a locally running an app so devs can follow along the tutorial are critical. The fewer, the better.

been reading a lot of comments today about how people find man pages hard to read and it made me mad (why do they have to be so hard!) so I'm giving away 300 copies of Bite Size Command Line to folks for whom $12 is a lot of money! (with code BUYONEGIVEONE) wizardzines.com/zines/bite-s...

Yes I don’t understand this at all! Especially since internal contributions at a dev’s current company are often hidden, plus you can just hack your green squares to look like whatever you want

Our baby thought the roomba was the devil incarnate so we stopped using it. But the maintenance work was so high it was easier to just vacuum traditionally anyway. I refuse to buy a “smart” washer/dryer as well

It’s so interesting what developer advocacy opens you up to professionally. Last year there were some data reporting gigs open at the NYTimes, and reading through the requirements, I realized most DAs I know could check 90% of them

Those “brag docs” are great references for when you want to make a case for yourself professionally to others (promotion season etc). But they are even more important for your own bad days. If you don’t have one, think about it for a New Year’s resolution
