Good topic Of course at a given point you should optimize at API level rather than each client platform individually

Another way of adopting your layout to iPhone Duo inner screen is using content margins. The contentMargins view modifier allows us to shift a particular type of content in the view. swiftwithmajid.com/2024/04/23/c...

- dead silence EXCEPT when somebody calls me or I start music or a video on purpose….i hate the sound of a new tab even - iPhone mini format - cameras flush with back. Perhaps they can pad it with extra battery? - better integration with Claude Code, codex, etc

The era of foldable phones is like the era of curved 3D TV’s. Never wanted one of those, but my 4K OLED HDR TV from that era is still current in specs. Thank god I don’t feel like upgrading to the latest and greatest for a while! Killer features that would trigger me to buy a new one:

German mainstream politics is also lost. Closing nuclear reactors so they can destroy their own industry at the expense of burning more coal and Russian gas. Immigration politics are not widely supported yet all parties stick to them. There should be some fresh ideas apart from far left or right.

1. Milei only does this because he’s losing in the polls 2. Malvinas are argentinean 3. It would be easier to convince them to join if the politics and economy weren’t so bad in Argentina, maybe focus on that for a few decades and return to the issue?

Looking for updates on models and experiences other people are having working with and building AI, building harnesses and so on For example I’m always fascinated with stuff Steve Yegge talks about. But also simply seeing how other people get the most out of Claude is fine too

Well a lot of people are still in “make compiler shut up” mode with concurrency. For that crowd it’s been really confusing. And I think a lot of devs are still in that section.

Problem is that most people did MSC: Model Screen Controller, where every VC represented a full screen rather than a logical grouped part of a screen or widget. UIKit API isn’t very friendly to nesting VC’s strangely

Still I miss the living on the edge feeling of deploying to prod manually with no back ups. Dropped prod db by accident, but I failed doing so because the server was so over worked it timed out. But at least I felt alive

We did a website that handled millions of sales per day, 4 nerds in a room. Later we got acquired by a company that had all stuff in place, pipelines “real” programming language and whatnot. They had 25% of our sales with 4x the amount of people.

I’m so glad I was a developer in the unprofessional early web days. Releasing an update meant dragging files through FTP, folder by folder One day a guy showed me how to prepare a zip file with all changed files in the right folder to unzip at target at once I was blown away by his professionalism

Alignment guides are a powerful but often underused part of SwiftUI's layout system. They let us describe relationships between views using meaningful points in their content, without frame measurements or fixed offsets. I wrote a post explaining them in detail: nilcoalescing.com/blog/Alignme...

Alignment guides in SwiftUI
Learn how alignment guides position views in SwiftUI, how to override a built-in guide, and how to define a custom alignment for views in nested containers.

The shaman of Bad Dürrenberg are the remains of a 25-35 year old woman, who was buried 8600 to 9000 year ago in Germany. Around her, were the remains of an extraordinary head-dress, made from the bones and teeth of different animals such as deer, wild boar, crane and turtle.
The Shaman of Bad Dürrenberg is a 9,000-year-old archaeological discovery of a 25-35 year old woman buried in Germany with an extraordinary animal-bone headdress.Headdress Materials: The ritual garment included bones and teeth from various animals, including deer, wild boar, crane, and turtle.Archaeological Status: As one of the oldest burials in Central Germany, her grave goods—including painting implements and clay—indicate she held a special social status, likely as a shaman.Reconstruction: The image on the right is a modern reconstruction based on the remains found on the left.

These shapes are usually not stable by themselves and need automatic corrections constantly just to fly in a straight line So there’s additional sensors and electronics needed just to let it fly alone
