iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

"How does an entire civilisation produce men for whom obedience replaces conscience..." asked Hannah Arendt in response to the Shoah. I suspect were she to know today's citizen as digital consumer she might want to change that "obedience" to "convenience"...

"From nowhere" is how ITV chooses to see the Croatia equalizer. Must be watching a different game. England have been as slow as they have been imprecise. #EngCro

ProPalestine media activists #HasanPiker and #CenkUygur have been banned from entering the UK. Assange was but a canary. We're deep in the coal mine now and the air is... what it is. Yet again, Labour has chosen to normalise abusive power so Reform can take it for granted tomorrow. Not fine.

It has become absolutely impossible to determine the true progress of the situations in the Middle East (Iran) or Eastern Europe (Ukraine) And to be told that one must also ignore the flotsam on social media is infuriating. Our media has simply abdicated its duty to inform. It's a disgrace.

America's "Taylor Sheridan hero" was there all along. America could have had Ted Turner and instead it chose his fat, fraudulent, misogynistic, racist impersonator... Donald Trump.

In the old days cartographers would flatter sponsors by drawing the white parts of the world unfeasibly large. Today, they would graft Canada into Europe like an eccentric Eurovision hopeful in the name of a "new world order" that is (accidentally?) exclusively white. What's wrong with #BRICS?

It feels beyond odd that when Britain divorced Europe she was leaving someone attractive, prosperous and peaceable. Today that she is brittle, divided and warlike... now the UK is thinking "I'd like me a bit of that..." Comedy = t... t... t... timing!

If you think you have an enemy, try to remember who told you first. Everything you think you know about the "bad guys" you read or saw on media owned by a state or corporation invested in making sure you knew.

I had forgotten just how fabulously talented Michelle Pfeiffer is. Her Stacey in The Madison is a tour de force. Sure, it's a great role but she, not that fool Marty, is the supreme one 💐💚✨

When we bought our home some 12yrs back I calculated on using around 2100 litres of winter heating oil, costing £750. So far this year I have spent £1973 to buy £1700 litres. I wonder how many of my neighbours are freezing in their homes. If you care more about sticking it to Putin, we disagree.

These two assumptions, and their concomitants, appear to have been driving the lion's share of European defence policy for a very long time. If they are at all right, we're in the kind of trouble that cancels all business-as-usual. But if not we're in a gaslighting cult. Colour me bewildered.

The best of the best that American money can buy, Barack Obama, looked this way and that... Then he determined that all of that bailout treasure should go to the banks. There was always another option.

Everything today is so desperately and infuriatingly explicit and crude. Dumb, raw power exercised. The media seems to pretend the manners and theatre of democracy, once the reserve of the colonisers, remain intact. But as an immigrant, I feel the Britishness of this place is fast evaporating.

How I Trained My AI Dragon Today when I posed a question to an AI bot I sometimes use the first line of the answer was, for the first time: "Here’s the clear, factual answer you’re looking for — without political opinion ..." Huzzah! Success. Never let the bots take liberties. Curation is salvation.

Minority #Oscars    opinion: I felt #MartySupreme was little more than an unprovoked assault on my better judgement and bailed after half an hour. I think that at the time I may have found Rupert Pupkin more likeable.

American problems ... when you did need a "De Niro" you elected an "Oprah" instead and gave HIM a peace prize. Sadly, the dufus went drone-happy, lost the key to the executive order cupboard and instead of shutting down Gitmo & the war as promised he opined instead "when they go low we go high". 🙄

Pep #Guardiola is clearly not holding back on the injustices of the world. He has openly called himself a "Palestinian". I wonder: will #Brighton or #Arsenal now ban him from their grounds? Will #Trump ban him from the World Cup?

The same people who would sell you a fictional crime crisis in London have also previously sold a Venezuela crisis and an Iran crisis. Why are you sure of the last two but dismiss the first? What are the chances almost all our culture is the product of political agendas undeclared?!

To those who fled the X network: I would like to make the point that right now on X, the voices that are braying away turning the conversational air febrile & manic -- using words like "war" like confetti at a wedding -- are all ... identifiable grown-up media and political professionals. Grow up

000

Luca Menato @lucamenato.bsky.social · 05/01/2026

Have any of you spent even five on X recently? Well, right now it's filled with RL political figures - presidents and premiers and the like - and commentators too - wrapped up like moral pretzels spaffing absolute drivel. It's madness! 🖖🏼🤯

#CoverUp on @Netflix right now, is a reminder that #SyHersch is a straight arrow & one of the great journalists of my lifetime. One of its few features. Never its bug. He was right about My Lai just just as he was about Abu Ghraib, Ghouta and Nord Stream. www.imdb.com/title/tt3766...
