Slice of baby swiss cheese draped over the edge of a glass plate against a dark surface. A red light reflection top left. The cheese has a pattern of evocative holes. Pareidolia. Faces, hearts, tiny creatures.

Happy Birthday, Hyphen! 🎉🎶💯🎂 Here is Paradise, from Snails of the Apocalypse, by Martha Zweig. If there are no typos in that Alt text it's a miracle.
PARADISE

I stood security the first six weeks.
Nobody minded the moon. The sun
you could reason with. Other
weathers, otherwise.

We smuggled a tunnel whole into the withering mountain:
a gut, an intubation,
fed it along length by strenuous length. Now &
then it kinked and squirmed. The mountain bristled hackles.

A few of us ran out of the same
time a few of us ran into: collisions, versions
& revisions of the vanishing act.

Before, since, I never scrambled so from fear.
The only camouflage is to lick oneself
newborn, covered with hide in the first place.

A fully human creation: Little Survivors Everywhere, coming soon from phafours press!
Cover image for Little Survivors Everywhere: A battered cardboard box containing autumn leaves, a knife, and an ant plushie. A green and black and yellow caterpillar crawls up the side of the box. The background is white; the text of title and author (me) is in an intriguing mustard color. This is a book of human-made poems.

I love this profusion of overgrown plants.
Frost aster and one self sown coneflower.Rosemary trails over a brick corner. Various foliage surounds and a single drying red zinnia in the upper foreground, right.

For #SmallPoemSunday, @tomsnarsky.bsky.social, here's No Mention:
No Mention

I shall not be remembered on
my birthday. I shall lie on the floor
like all those times before, singing
with the hounds as they pass by.
My name forgotten but my song,
also forgotten. Even the floor
is gone.

I just want to massively appreciate this blurb for Little Survivors Everywhere, and the beautiful design provided by @pearlpoet.bsky.social :
It's not the world that Kyla Houbolt is talking about, not exactly, and
it's not just words, or stories, or rumors either. It's time, time
imploding itself, making the birds lose track of their tunes, right,
wrong, blood, feathers, mouth -- it's not time, but what else do you
call that arrival of storms, and leaves, wind and waves, insects, and
the impulse to sing very loud in the middle of the night. You don't know
what to call it, but it's here. Listen up!

For #WeirdPoemWednesday, @tomsnarsky.bsky.social, here is Q&A:
Q&A

Q. How thou come aside this fizzled gristled day?

A. With hatchets and cleavers, said no one ever
     said everyone never.

A. Yet again, A. Here cometh clammy pulchritude.
     Hoist your items, chillun.

For #SmallPoemSunday, @tomsnarsky.bsky.social here is Field Document, collected in *Dance On*, forthcoming from Wordrunner Press, November 15:
Field Document

I saw a woman on fire,
how she was burning,
I saw nothing like smoke,
only the eyes in a flame
clear like thought
never is. You can hear
this and not believe it
and she will not care.
Her eyes, though, do
see it all, finally.

Okay, #PoemsAbout #Rot, here's a thought. (Thanks to @thebrokenspine.co.uk and @alanparrywriter.co.uk ) Aftermath:
Aftermath

Now, a long slow lope toward death.
Not that kind of death
but the end of something
beginning something else.

Then, we look back through the door,
notice all the bullshit still reeking.
With buckets, shovels, machetes,
rakes, we go round it all up,

from trees from store shelves
from gutters from lawns. Rake it all into
a huge pile in a vacant mall
parking lot. Torch it.

Don’t breathe that smoke.
Not everything rotten
feeds the soil.

Oh goodie! It's #WeirdPoemWednesday! @tomsnarsky.bsky.social here's Rot and Glory, soon to appear in *Little Survivors Everywhere*
Rot and glory
Watching the fierceness of
vegetables hiding among
the cashy leaves. Suddenly,
Ho! Santa Claus! What a plucky
old fella you are. Here,
have a squash.
The mockingbirds resume.
I mean sing, of course. It is
because I asked for it,
for my one present. This one.
Right now. Listen.

Final cover image for *Little Survivors Everywhere*! We should be gearing up in the next week... watch this space! Coming soon from www.pearlpirie.com/phafours
Book cover image features a battered cardboard box in which are some autumn leaves, a knife, and an ant plushie. A green striped caterpillar crawls up the side of the box. The title is in some funky font I don't know the name of, in a kind of mustard color matching some of the leaves.

This is attempting to post as an AI labeler of which there are several, but sneaking in big misinfo under that name. If one subscribed, presumably one can use the "community note" function.
The profile of a supposed AI labeler which instead is acting as an AI apologist and "voice of the community". Poison.

For #PoemsAbout #DeadLetters, here's a slightly crazed point of view: The Dead Letter. (*waves* to @alanparrywriter.co.uk 😁 )
The Dead Letter
We keep his secret, we remaining in the alphabet. He just got weary
of holding up that space between K and L. He always felt misplaced,
he cried to himself in the night. His shape became…
unrecognizable and after a while no one knew his name.
He slipped off the page. We do not forget.

Not really weird enough for #WeirdPoemWednesday, @tomsnarsky.bsky.social, but seasonal. Collected in Little Survivors Everywhere (unless it has to get cut for length), coming up soon! "Around Now"
Around Now

Autumn. Auuuutuumnnnnn, hum the big
trees silently to themselves and each other.
Auuutummmmnnnn. Whish of cold breeze
releases more leaves which click together
softly as they land, percussing the humming.
It is not a time to make noise, people.
But, God love ya, you will anyway.
Ah, people, ah trees. Kinfolk.

Upon a Time

The cigarette lighter

there was a bird
once.

Hmm. #SmallPoemSunday and @tomsnarsky.bsky.social this is what I got today. Ubiquity, Uniquity:
Ubiquity, Uniquity

I always used to have to have
a piano. People got rid of them.
“Take it, it’s yours!” they would say.
There was always somebody
to help get the piano into wherever
we lived.

Once I had them I did little
with them but plinket around
a bit. But I did have to have
a piano. Then I’d move, abandon
that one, find another.

I no longer have
to have a piano.The last
heavy thing I had to have
was this desk. It was cheap,
a gift from the Universe,
solid oak, dovetailed drawers
with hand carved pulls. If ever I move
I will not find another

its match. It is not like
those pianos were.

For #SmallPoemSunday, @tomsnarsky.bsky.social here's Welcome What Sun Will Come, collected in Little Survivors Everywhere, forthcoming from pearlpirie.com/small-press/... this fall.
Welcome What Sun Will Come

First the long note of the train,
now the owl, owoo owoo oo.
Soon, sun. Then, soon, noon.
How the day spins down
that fast it makes dizzy birds
lose track of their tunes.
No rain so we all drink light.
Crisp leaves twirl spirals
around faint trails where
raindrops once fell.
Inhale with care
this campfire air,
the hint of summer's peach
still lingering.

(for Peach Delphine, gone missing,
whom we miss.)

Of course they do! (Click for alt)
And We’ll Fly Away Oh Glory

Dolly Parton and Wendell Barry meet up in Heaven. Dolly says “Wendell you old so and so, how the heck are ya!?” Wendell grins real big and says, “Hoo lawdy honey, it was a long sweet time but I am glad to be here.” A banjo and a fiddle
start up in the near distance. The two commence to clog. Dolly’s wig flies off and under it her hair glows and curls. Wendell notices his old horses, the first team he worked, grazing down a ways. He’s happy to see they’ve made it too. Looking off at the old planet, he elbows Dolly and says “think they’ll make it? They sure have been making a mess of it lately,” and Dolly winks and says, “Sugar? I do believe they will!” The two wander off, arm in arm, followed by all the wild things in a river of glitter and peace.
