yeah. yeah. i wasn't a huge LJ user back in the day but i loved browsing communities for old musicians and fandoms. everyone seemed to be friends (on the surface anyway) and there was so much more friendly discussion! i think it's harder to approach people in spaces like twitter and tumblr-

And again, it's frustrating because it's so hard to balance that acceptance with also... not wanting to really see other people's sexuality or have sex/romance shoved into your stories if that's not what you're going for.
