That gives them a pretty good chance of seeing a God Pack 5-6 times in a year. And, considering we're dealing with so many shortages on newer packs in my area, that causes me to trend towards the belief that this could affect enough players and shops to be annoying and inconvenient.

I can definitely see how my location and exposure puts a bias on my perspective here. I definitely think Sealed is the more immediate concern that I have because I see the shops around me run out of prizes pretty fast. They also run 5 sealed events on a prerelease weekend.

So, my area is definitely busier. I have multiple shops near me that do weekly drafting. One of them consistently cannot draft the latest sets because they don't have enough to even draft them. The other will have enough to draft but not to do prize support.

I'll even admit that it's much rarer in draft and I'm less concerned for it. It's, at most, 1 in 20ish if you got 16 people.(Technically like 1 in 20.834.) But a 5% chance is still relevan and if the products are going to be more catered to whales and collectors, then stores will sell prize support.

It definitely could be more of an issue with my immediate LGSes selling product that should be allocated for prizes, but that also isn't going to be made better by this. I also live in an area with busier shops overall, so I definitely understand how I can seem super doomy to other markets.

So, you can mitigate that if you have the prize support to begin with. I don't even think your proposal is bad, but I've been to a draft on a Friday night where they could not give out prize packs because they didn't have anything else. You can't replace a pack you don't have.

And that 1 in 7 is generous. Most places near me hit 36 people, sometimes more for prerelease. I can tell you confidently that if this happened during FF prerelease, it would have been a nightmare for enough stores to be worth mentioning.

That's 1 in 7 prereleases if we're assuming an average of 24 people. That's 1 in anywhere of 20 to 40 drafts affected also dependimg on size. I don't know if you care about limited, but I do and this isn't gonna be good for limited. I'm not saying WotC must soothsay, but they can assess the present

The problem isn't price, it's stock. The last three prereleases I've been to have all struggled to have packs by the end. And of course, they have. Hobbit was scalped hard. RF is undergoing delays. Avatar hit some snags. My LGS gave credit instead of prize packs because they ran out of Hobbit.

Or any sealed event where a lack of replacement packs means that you have to choose between someone only getting 5 packs to build with or having a significantly better chance of sweeping. Just wait until this happens at a competitive event and watch how pissed it makes people.

Stores are already struggling to keep enough product for prizes and for sale and you just had to cancel an entire product. You have a solution to this problem you invented that will feel bad for less informed players when they have to draft their pack because the store has nothing else.
