Yeah but imagine if only a small portion of the "1.5 million homes" promised in the UK were built with it. Doing all of those the normal way would have 50 Million tons of emissions associated with it, using hempcrete could make that net zero. Also possible to build up to 12 stories (so far)

The stalks from the plant grown for flower aren't ideal. The hurd for hempcrete is better coming from industrial Hemp, it is grown tightly together which makes it grow thick and tall (3 to 4m) and is harvested before going to flower.

How does one get "dubbed by the press as the UK's greenest building"? (from article) 😜 I reckon we could give it a run for it's money. We've built a hemp house in Kent, reused materials for hardcore, halved cement use in foundation + heatpump with UFH. We think between 5 & 10 ton carbon negative.

Several homes being completed in Mid Suffolk. Using timber frames and hand placed hempcrete. Some older buildings insulated/retrofit with sprayed hempcrete. I’d have one. Stable temperatures and highly efficient. Could create some excellent social housing if govt sorted finances.
