Ash’s Pikachu is different than others. He has a bronze lightning bolt at the base or his tail. With the advent of hybrid animation a lighting flaw would sometimes cause the tailtip to appear darker but this was only ever a few scenes and never part of the design (2/3)

Both. The one on the RIGHT is the original pikachu. The one on the left is the chinese counterfeit design that got sold as plushies to millions of people. Additionally, Pichu had a black tail and a lot of people misremember that trait carrying over (1/3)
