We've called time on our submissions for November's Brighton event, and we can't wait for the games committee to show you the line-up. What we haven't called time on is our volunteering roles, and they're a great way to cut your teeth in the world of commentary! albionspeedrun.co.uk/volunteer

Still a little short on submissions, so I'm going to extend this one to anyone who's made a significant move - so that could be to a different state or region of their country. Americans eligible for a Fast Travel episode? It happens!

Today, we have a goal. Too much work is needed to get StarCraft into Brighton, that's a next event goal. HOWEVER, We have all the tools needed to complete a Chapter 1 run of Warhammer: Dark Omen, so tonight I will be pushing for that and if we get it. We're submitting!

I've always wanted to go to Brighton, thrilled it is going to be with ASC. We're looking for runs still, but also hosting volunteers! If you like what I do and want to try your hand at it, apply!

I'm getting asked a lot about the new StarCraft. Dude, I don't know, I am an RTS guy and this one isn't an RTS. I can tell you that landing 3 rax in front of zerg with no stim, combat shields or tanks was effing stupid. But I'm also not the first person to even say that. So.

020 2

Lovenji Gaming @lovenfloofen.bsky.social · 28/08/2026

We did do the StarCraft stream and I think of the 11 Terran Levels (10 + Bootcamp) we submitted for 7, and level 3 doesn't have an IL. The problem with getting this marathon ready is that the remaining 3 Terran levels are HARD. So pivot to Protoss (shorter) or keep grinding... hmm...

It's okay to say enough is enough mate, and I say that as a friend and someone who can take the joke too far. There's no shame, harm or embarrassment in going "actually I don't like this today/anymore". You're a great person surrounded by people who don't NEED to rip on you to love you.

I've made it a goal to get a Strategy Game Speedrun into an ASC event. The problem now... is I have to learn some. There are worse problems to have I suppose.

Are you only an expert in a game if you can truly perform at the highest level? (Doesn't bode well for me if so!)

110 1

Lovenji Gaming @lovenfloofen.bsky.social · 09/05/2026

But you don't have the rapid APM to match that knowledge. And your mouse clicks aren't precise and your keyboard control is sloppy. Are you an expert? See I would say you are. Knowledge can be obtained even without the skill to execute, but what do you think?

120 2

Lovenji Gaming @lovenfloofen.bsky.social · 09/05/2026

I am curious what other people believe, do you think that you can be an expert if you have low skill? Let's take the RTS, a genre very close to my heart. Say you know a lot about the game, you know build orders off the top of your head, you know unit counters, you know most correct choices to make

I get asked somewhat often before a big tournament match, or a big work presentation; "How do you stay so calm?" The truth is I don't. I spend up to 48 hours prior going AAAAAAAAAAA and then just style it out on the day. There it is. That's the secret to eternal life.
