Pinnacle Rock, Mowing Word Bay near Barafundle. 8” x 6” oil on board I love this distinctive rock on the walk between Barafundle and Broadhaven on the Stackpole Estate. I’m quite taken by the colour palette of this little painting I might do a larger one.

Observations of a Sunday midafternoon dog walk, trying to tie in a little with #hedgerowchallenge for #wildflowerhour this week - most I can identify, a few I can’t (I still need to get myself a pocket size guide)
Around the edges of a field that’s slowly being turned into a meadow was a swathe of cheerful buttercupsRed campion (I think) with a bonus bee, growing alongside a very boggy area where there were also some yellow flag iris (not pictured)I think this might be cow parsley - it was like a see of white froth alongside a path that used to be a railway line a long time agoI think this is plantain - at least that’s what my sister & I knew it as when we were growing up. This was happily sitting alongside the red campion in the previous photo

My studio for the day, it was a very breezy day so I lucked out when I realised that not only were there fantastic views of the bluebells from this spot but the teepee was a great wind break!

A couple of weeks ago I visited @workersgallery near Porth, I also took the opportunity to paint at Trehafod, it was very murky with heavy rain so I had to find a close-up view. So these winding gears were perfect, I treated it as a quick sketch and not get to engulfed in the detail.

I won! I received the fantastic news yesterday that my painting of Solva won the British Contemporary Art Award and I’m absolutely thrilled and it certainly brightened up a dreary day in January. Thank you to everyone who voted for my painting to get through to the final jury stage.

Last week I took advantage of the frozen temperatures and snow, I headed to Keepers Pond on the Blorenge, there had been snow earlier in the week which had thawed quite a lot but the pond was frozen. It was a colourful view, tricky to show the ice on the pond but an enjoyable painting session anyway

Snow! Just enough for a good covering but not enough to get stuck indoors. So this morning I headed up the Blorenge to paint the snow covered hills, they were a little less snow covered than I would have liked but it was a nice challenge painting the mix of snow, frost and thaw.
