As a British citizen, please can you tell me how this person is still president? Our prime minister was effectively removed recently for being too boring. Does your system of government not have a mechanism for removing a clearly unfit person from power?

Me too. Cherish my alone time. Air fryer toasties might be consumed also. 🙂

Doctrinaire - I didn’t realise there was a word for it. I am frequently amazed by the lack of insight and common sense shown by our politicians. Now I have a name for it other than stupidity.

Louise Broad @lou65broad.bsky.social · 13/06/2026

Do they not think things through? A lot of university funding comes from foreign students. Courses are being cut and staff numbers slashed. Tuition fees will probably have to rise to cover the losses so fewer of our own kids can afford it.

Oh yes we have made massive progress. This is part of the lawn…🤣

Your garden is simply stunning. I would love mine to be just the same but have to compromise with my neatnik husband. We’ve made great progress: when we first met, all the bushes in his garden looked like clipped lollipops and the lawn was green velvet. Not any more! Ha!

Louise Broad @lou65broad.bsky.social · 10/05/2026

I love a good emoji but this one is rubbish. Everyone thinks it looks like a film projector. Including me. 🤗 This is the alternative. But not really appropriate for a heartfelt, comforting hug.

2/2 I would never dream of telling you who, or who not, to vote for, but please, before you put your cross in the reform candidate’s box tomorrow, take the time to read what a Reform Government would actually mean for all of us. forwarddemocracy.com/blog/reform-...

I am putting my head above the parapet with this post as I have a diverse group of friends who I don’t wish to alienate. But I am really concerned we are sleepwalking into a Reform controlled local authority and, worse still, the horrifying prospect down the line of Farage as Prime Minister. 1/2

I love this time of year. I’m so tired but in a good way too. Those flowers remind me of my grandmother who grew them in her garden. Especially the sweet scent. And now I have them in mine. 🙂

Louise Broad @lou65broad.bsky.social · 04/05/2026

Me neither. Just thinking about having so many other people close to me and being unable to escape makes me feel anxious.

Dear Labour supporters. If you want to put me off voting Green rather than Labour, the key is *not* to attack the Greens, but to ask yourself why I, a life-long Labour supporter, who has voted Labour at every GE since 1983 (my first), can't support Labour. Look at yourselves. Look at your party.

Late to the party as usual…#WildFlowerHour the first cornflower opened yesterday in my mini meadow. 😍

A single perfect blue cornflower amongst grasses and green leaves.

We must stand in solidarity with Jews being attacked by antisemitic criminals and terrorists: no ifs or buts. We must stand in solidarity with Palestinians being murdered by the Israeli government: no ifs or buts. These are not contradictory positions. They are consistent ones. 🧵1/5

I think they tend to flower when they’re a bit dry and it hasn’t rained properly down here for ages. Mine keeps trying to flower too. Mind you, you are in the wet and wild North east aren’t you. ☔️🌧️

Oh dear. Years ago our microwave survived being set on fire by my then 3 year old son who put one of his toy cars in it and made a ‘lovely fire with sparks and everything!’

Louise Broad @lou65broad.bsky.social · 09/04/2026

Legislation is needed. Market forces will always prioritise profit.

Louise Broad @lou65broad.bsky.social · 09/04/2026

So beautiful. What a lovely dark coat. Is it a Roe deer?

He’s already in his bunker, leaving the rest of us to our fates.

000

I do hope so. I’m just looking in my fridge for a nice dessert to take to bed with me too. If the world is going to end tonight we may as well have Tiramisu or syrup sponge pudding in our tummies.

I’m so afraid. I hope to God he steps back from his threats. Why can’t the Americans stop him? Why hasn’t our Prime Minister said anything today and why are our government allowing the US to launch their attacks from bases in the UK?

I have a lovely magenta one for you!

Wow! That’s proper red! ♥️

Sorry, alleged violence towards women.

000

Even without his disgusting antisemitism, he shouldn’t be welcome in our country due to his violence and misogynistic behaviour towards women.

The US military has 22 sites in the UK. Every day long range US bombers are taking off here to drop bombs on Iran. This is a rogue state carrying out war crimes, and threatening more. The UK Government must grow a spine - and stop our bases being used for this war.

Here is a lovely tulip for you.

Tulip, just about to open. It is deep magenta, with satiny smooth petals, still turning inwards.

Me too. Also I am so gullible, I believe them all and then feel really stupid. And let’s face it, we’re listening to a daily April Fool from across the Atlantic aren’t we.

Snap on the goldfinch. I had a pair searching for food or nesting material in the hedge along my garden. At the same time anmale blackbird collecting beakfuls of grubs and flying off with them. Feeding a mate who’s sitting? Or chicks. 🤞 #FirstBirdOfMyDay

Me too. I used to have an old fashioned mandolin without a finger guard and never once managed to use it without slicing my fingers. 🤕
