I am putting my head above the parapet with this post as I have a diverse group of friends who I don’t wish to alienate. But I am really concerned we are sleepwalking into a Reform controlled local authority and, worse still, the horrifying prospect down the line of Farage as Prime Minister. 1/2

Dear Labour supporters. If you want to put me off voting Green rather than Labour, the key is *not* to attack the Greens, but to ask yourself why I, a life-long Labour supporter, who has voted Labour at every GE since 1983 (my first), can't support Labour. Look at yourselves. Look at your party.

We must stand in solidarity with Jews being attacked by antisemitic criminals and terrorists: no ifs or buts. We must stand in solidarity with Palestinians being murdered by the Israeli government: no ifs or buts. These are not contradictory positions. They are consistent ones. 🧵1/5

The US military has 22 sites in the UK. Every day long range US bombers are taking off here to drop bombs on Iran. This is a rogue state carrying out war crimes, and threatening more. The UK Government must grow a spine - and stop our bases being used for this war.

#OnThisDay today! No photos from 14th March to share other than the electricity meter (I seem to have read the meter every day over the years. Is it some kind of obsession?) and some screenshots of my driving licence. So here is a snakes head fritillary blooming in my new wildflower area.

Snakes head fritillary flower. A nodding, bell-shaped bloom with a checkerboard pattern in shades of purple and pink. The evening sun is shining through the petals and the thin leaves are curly.

I had a busy week in the garden. I made a dead hedge, pricked out some wallflower, allysum and gypsophilla seedlings and sowed tomatoes, Centauria and verbena bonariensis. #GardensHour

#OnThisDay 9th March 2021. My two lovely ladies, Maggie and Ivy enjoying the spring sunshine. It’s particularly poignant for me, as my beautiful Ivy died yesterday. She was nearly 14 and had been well, but her heart was failing and I had to let her go. She was surrounded by love her whole life. 💔

Two dogs in a garden; a white and tan spaniel laying down and a black lab x springer seated. Both are soaking up the sunshine with their eyes closed and expressions of contentment on their faces.

#OnThisDay 8th March 2018. One of my lovely children took this photo of me in a shop queue with my sweater on inside out. Much funnier than pointing it out to me obvs! I can still hear them sniggering.

Bottom half of a woman, from the back. She’s wearing black trousers and a grey sweater with the side label sticking out, showing it is on inside out.

I made a dead hedge yesterday using up all the shrub prunings I’ve accumulated over the winter. Great habitat for the wildlife, only £20 for the 5 posts and, best of all, stops my dog from barking at next door’s plastic, lifesize farm animals. 🤣

Dead hedge made from 5 pressure treated round fence posts with various branches, twigs and prunings pushed down between the posts and the paling fence. To the left are the branches from a small oak tree and to the right the ends of next door’s laurel (bleuegh!) evergreen hedge. In the foreground is an area of grass and soon to be nettles and wildflowers and beyond the hedge is a meadow with a tree in leaf and winter bare trees along the distant fence line.

#OnThisDay - today! Many photos taken on 4th March over the years of my electricity meter, the WiFi password, cardboard box design (what I do for a living.) Not a single one worth sharing. So here is my bulb lasagne, Iris reticulata JS Dijit first up. 🙂

The Prime Minister is asked about abolishing leasehold. He answers on management companies and ground rents that makes it really clear Labour have no intention of abolishing leasehold. 5 million people stuck paying service charges because Labour stand with property developers.

#OnThisDay 26th February 2019, I must have saved this photo from a Summer evening in 2018. Two of my daughters at the end of the school production of The Lion King. My youngest was Rafiki and her twin brother was grown up Simba. Happy days!

Smiling young woman with grey, green and lilac long hair wearing an old, black fedora and a black hooded jacket standing with a smiling 11 year old blonde girl. She is wearing a white vest and has half a face of blue and red stage makeup.
There is a blue evening sky and a row of oak trees in leaf behind them.

A close up of a catkin on a common hazel. The catkin is cluster of buff- coloured male flowers, arranged in a tassel, which dangles from a twig. The female flower is attached to a bud at the base of the catkin and is tiny, bright cerise pink with little spiky petals.

Some of my seedlings have germinated. The cosmos sprouted so quickly -2 days! - I left them covered for a bit too long and they are very leggy. I was probably too early as well. I’ll pot them on deep to give them a chance and sow some more next month.
