Will not be taking advice from people who suggest the working class should just stfu and have no demands. The capitalist crisis is leading us down the path to fascism. Overthrow capitalism.

Sure, why consider something rational when parties do not serve us, like say abolishing them Cuba stye, when we could just do that? Never let it be said this is a country capable of keeping its mind when it comes to the outrageous idea of a govt that might dare to serve the poor working class people

We do. A nationally owned national rail network that gets freight off the roads. Alliance have a fantastic rail policy. Getting more representation in parliament via them so we have the numbers is just essential.

Oh you mean like a controlled opposition for the interests of capital? Hmm. What would that make parties who join them without conditions then?

Why do the Green's refuse to stand up against Labour's position, on literally anything since it is all bad, today? Under FPTP we never had a left (or so called) that would remain silent to Labour's awful positions. Now under the system which is suppose to be more representative, they do even less.

National, Labour, and every party who will join them in coalition without a red line against this. Which means every party currently in parliament and one likely about to enter. "Democracy".

Sara @lotts.bsky.social · 3h
Remember I am not the one saying the Green's need a certain number of votes before they can decide there are bottom lines for them. They and their supporters are.

It's not fatalist though. It's just what polling reflects. This isn't a margin of error thing. You have to believe that against all evidence the outcome is going to be very wildly different than anything the public are saying. Anyway, as I said my issue isn't with other voters, it's the parties.

other than we eat meals together. They changed that one thing and it happened to solve everything for them. I know of other children for whom it would not matter what the parents did, nothing would change. To attempt to brush it off as one thing and always easily solved is ugh just typical.

Sara @lotts.bsky.social · 4h
There are all sorts of reasons children can be picky eaters. Sometimes they are solvable sometimes they are not. It's irresponsible of them to to put it down to the food being offered. I had a couple of friends who asked me why my children ate fine. I told them I don't do anything different to them

I have that sentiment towards all of the parties they include on every issue, still it would choose some of them for me. I wonder what the people funding these get from them.

Sara @lotts.bsky.social · 4h
They haven't and they won't. And I do not wonder why at all. And once again the self described left will deliver us another right wing govt - either way.

I'm truly tired of being of the left being told in this country that the only thing you can do electorally is temporarily prevent something that the very parties you vote for end up supporting anyway in a cycle or two. Capitalists get 100 day plans & guarantees, the working class endlessly told no.

Sara @lotts.bsky.social · 5h
I cannot help that my vote might not count. That's not something I can change. That's the system. Labour ARE the neolibs. The Green's are at the very best helping the neolibs, especially with no bottom lines. There is literally no way to not help the neolibs in NZ anymore.

Thank you, much appreciated. I don't either since they aren't on the approved list for media attention. The number of people who are interested after saying that didn't realise they were back/or heard of them says everything.

Sara @lotts.bsky.social · 21h
You don't clarify what you mean by fragmented vote, but anything that breaks up the stronghold that the current status quo has over working class people is fine by me. I've participated in the liberal's theory of getting change in this country for a long time, that's over and done for me.

As I said, it is espoused all day every day about how much better MMP is while people keep trying to suggest we have to act like it's still FPTP. Pick a belief.
000
Sara @lotts.bsky.social · 21h
Do you understand how ludicrous it is to keep telling me they can't risk fighting for more votes from the place they are most likely to get them in order to be able to get their policy at the same time as saying they can't do any policy without those votes?

Sara @lotts.bsky.social · 21h
Seymour justifying kicking people off disability by claiming people who win lotto end up purposeless and depressed. Should we then round up the wealthy and sorted, lotto winners and landlords who mooch around all day and force them into wage slave work - you know for their wellbeing and all. #nzpol

What can't they do exactly? All it is is reasons they can't possibly commit to any of their policy. You're giving me reasons not to vote for them. If the Green's need this magical number, why didn't they take a leaf out of Zack Polanski's book this election cycle?

Be disappointed that more voters do not want to reject ongoing harm, or be disappointed that I have given my vote to a platform that means more harm to more people. I prefer the former.
110
Sara @lotts.bsky.social · 22h
Why is it so incredibly impossible to get a good faith discussion? I think you know I have no qualms in speaking up for myself in regards to what I would rather. Perhaps you are somewhat correct. I would rather be disappointed trying something else than the same thing and getting the same result.
100
Sara @lotts.bsky.social · 22h
"Don't worry your pretty little heads about policy delivery", right? Maybe Alliance will get less support than Green's. Hardly surprising with the media and online left refusing to talk about them. But at least they stand behind what they say and as such they are willing to sit on the cross benches
000
Sara @lotts.bsky.social · 22h
I don't even believe the Green's will do it, but if they are supposed to take us closer to one, there has to be a demonstrated pathway. So far under MMP we have lost ground. And again, like I said, we are expected to just go in blind with very obvious barriers to policy.
200
Sara @lotts.bsky.social · 22h
yet when it comes to voting people on the left are told to just treat it like FPTP. Some people might just want to win a three legged race with Labour, but some of us want policy that will meet the needs of the many to lead to a more just society. Now I do not in any way believe Labour will do that.

Sara @lotts.bsky.social · 22h
You keep telling us to vote Green's. I have always said my vote is never set in stone. Yet when I ask you questions in response to claims you have made, in order to help me make a decision you can't answer them. It's all very well to espouse on all the time about how much better MMP is than FPTP,

Sara @lotts.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
Sorry I forgot you always answer my questions with a question. Well since no one can answer this & The Green’s have decided to leave us in the dark on everything to do with what it would actually look like when it comes to their coalition with Labour, I guess my suggestion is vote Alliance.
200
Sara @lotts.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
Are the Green’s going to refuse to support this? Or any of the anti working class people positions Labour currently has?
120
Sara @lotts.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
That requires a lot of assumptions and regardless is still bad.
140
Sara @lotts.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
Oh don't worry, they want to go after all of it. And it has bipartisan support. Super isn't a benefit yet, but it soon will be. Then won't it be fun as people locked out punch down on the elderly calling them bludgers.
000
Sara @lotts.bsky.social · 11/10/2026
They have said some bottom lines though, agree with them or not. It is the Green's who have none.
000
Sara @lotts.bsky.social · 11/10/2026
What is the number? And what qualifies as substantial?
110
Sara @lotts.bsky.social · 11/10/2026
What does 'enough' even mean though? No one has ever been able to quantify that claim. They never had to, ever. It's a matter of will. If tax reform was important to them it would be a bottom line, same as for Opp.
000
Sara @lotts.bsky.social · 11/10/2026
Shocker. I'm still voting for it via Alliance. Maybe one day we will get a party in parliament who will not capitulate to Labour and National.

Doesn't Labour prescribe to the same fiscal rules? And also is promising to increase the surplus and reduce debt. Where is the room for any Green's policy. Are they just getting none? Just because bad faith actors don't want to admit that they are doing the same fuckery does not make it not fuckery.

At the time that Labour backed the RBNZ raising interest rates knowing it would lead to chucking people out of work the unemployment rate was above their "maximum sustainable employment" 🤮 mandate.
000
Sara @lotts.bsky.social · 11/10/2026
So who are they going to be under Labour/Green's since they back this position then? Older people? Things are already pretty bad for people, especially women, over 50. I guess once the pension is stripped there will be plenty of desperate oldies for their wage slavery.
110
Sara @lotts.bsky.social · 11/10/2026
Is it though? The middle 3 at least have been intentional. Isn’t the reason the RBNZ, backed by Labour and National, started deliberately chucking people out of work in 2023 for this very reason? They wanted more unemployed and wage suppression.
000
Sara @lotts.bsky.social · 11/10/2026
They’re not alone either. National and Labour also plan to get together to decide what they’re going to do next in their staged dismantling of our retirement income. But it’s ok people will vote for each to take a turn heading our govt without a thought about it until it’s gone entirely.
000
Sara @lotts.bsky.social · 11/10/2026
will be the end of the most successful programme for keeping our elderly from poverty unless we stand up to them both. It's disgusting.
000
Sara @lotts.bsky.social · 11/10/2026
National and Labour Party definitely have a plan to destroy Super. And they've committed to coming together to see whose way of doing it will happen first. Will it be raising the age via National or means testing via Labour first? I guess we will see. Either way we will end up with both and that
110
Sara @lotts.bsky.social · 11/10/2026
I don't know what to tell you beyond the fact a few politicians around the world have demonstrated that when you stand meaningful working class people policies people will come out in support. Again I say, take it up with the people refusing to run on or show a pathway to that.
100
Sara @lotts.bsky.social · 11/10/2026
You're pointing it out will demonstrating that voting without any conditions for it doesn't make things better either, so I am not surprised it isn't working. I don't know what you think they are forfeiting exactly. I would agree that statement if you were talking about those who have no red lines.
000
Sara @lotts.bsky.social · 11/10/2026
I still prefer the Alliance platform which backs full employment as part of it's workers rights policies, rather than a targeted trial programme.

Remember the bit where I said that there are still an awful lot of people served by the current system and unwilling to exert any pressure for change. Well that's the barrier.
100
Sara @lotts.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
I am aware. Which is why moaning at the huge number of people who are not represented and thus unwilling to participate is a wasteful way to exert energy.
200
Sara @lotts.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
Don't worry about them. Concern yourself with what it means for you. You can't force people to do what you want, so who do you have leverage over? Oh I know. The people you are willing to cast your vote for. Which takes us right back to the beginning.
100
Sara @lotts.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
Not voting =/= not participating. You are just talking like some who sees the entirety of political engagement from beginning to end as complaining when your opposition is in and then casting a vote for a different branch maintaining the same status quo. Being mad at people isn't changing anything

Sara @lotts.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
Did that look like "stopping the fuel companies from fleecing us" to you? Temporarily cutting taxes is not that. How has that failure worked for us long term? When she made that promise petrol was barely over $1.50. Look where it is today - even without the rises publicly being attributed to US bs.
