Nothing new added, but it's still soothing to watch my #modeltrain go around its little #nscale loop on my Work From Home desktop.

Happy #LetterboxdFriday! What's YOUR #LastFourWatched? I continued in my Clive Barker adjacent horror watch with race/class trauma as I finished a second franchise, before pivoting back to "Dad Movies" with a bit of union busting violence with Chris Cooper and James Earl Jones.
My Letterboxd Recent Activity showing the last four movies I watched: Candyman 2: Farewell To The Flesh (1995), Candyman 3: Day of the Dead (1999), Candyman (2021), and Matewan (1987)

Trying to get used to hand wraps. This was attempt #3 on my left hand. Have yet to try on my right, and since I'm not a southpaw, I'm expecting even worse results.

Still not sure if it reads as a dirt road, but I filled it in some, & tamped it down to the board. I also added a Model T in front of the store to make it look more like a road (there's turf & weeds to come that should help), I also positioned the Gossip Tree ready to add people #modeltrains #nscale

Happy #LetterboxdFriday! What's YOUR #LastFourWatchee? I survived the end of the DTV Hellraiser era with Pinhead's non-union Mexican equivalent, which wasn't the franchise nadir, followed by a triumphant reboot, and kept in a Clive Barker space to finish.

Happy #LetterboxdFriday! What's YOUR #LastFourWatched? Demons to some. Angels to others. I spent a week in literal DTV Hell. Firmly in the era of "cheap spec scripts, just add Cenobites!" A couple of these were pretty decent, and then there's Hellworld... Next batch doesn't even have Doug Bradley.
My Letterboxd Recent Activity showing the last four movies I watched:- Hellraiser: Inferno (2000), Hellraiser: Hellseeker (2002), Hellraiser: Deader (2005), and Hellraiser: Hellworld (2005).

For this week's #LetterboxdFriday, Ive been on something of a spooky theme as All Hallow's Eve creeps closer, and my #LastFourWatched have such sights to show you. I decided to go to the start of 1 of the 2 horror franchises I can watch and am going to do every one, not just these that I've seen.

1001 albums #72: I like them better when they were singing about the main geezer.
Album cover art for En-Tact by The ShamenWhile I do like the later more straightforward rave version of The Shamen as prefigured by "Move Any Mountain" here, I don't think they're a particularly essential band. I guess an argument can be made that they mainstreamed House music in the UK, but if you want to include House in your list of albums to hear before you die, I think several performers of colour based around Chicago have a much better claim than a bunch of white guys from Scotland. - 3 stars

1001 albums #71: Didn't realize that I'd taken such a long hiatus from posting these, so expect a massive flood of nonsense starting with some New Wave also rans.
Album cover art for Pelican West by Haircut One HundredDefinitely another album that's far from essential to hear before I die. Haircut 100 were very much also rans in the New Romantic era when they were a going concern, and that's what this sounds like.

Do you want Duran Duran B-sides with a slightly funkier vibe? This is the album for you! - 2 stars

Haven't brought food to my Sunday D&D group in a while, so thought I'd push the boat out a little bit: Slow Cooker Chicken Shawarma, Greek Lemon Cauliflower Pilaf, Marinaded Sumac Red Onions, Lemon Tahini Sauce, and feta and pitas to assemble their own...
My Dungeons and Dragons food spread, a large crock pot of sliced chicken shawarma, and a small crock pot of lemon cauliflower "rice" pilaf, between them are two mason jars, a larger one containing sumac marinaded red onion, and a smaller one containing lemon tahini sauce. In front is a sealed tub of feta cheese crumbles, and a sealed bag of white Greek style pita bread.

My hands are too big & clumsy to repair/replace couplers that got damaged in transit. Playing with #AnyRail layouts. Nothing fully thought out, 3 N scale, 1 HO.
The one layout that I might actually buildA layout designed to fit on my folding table and be capable of running multiple trains.A layout at a much larger scale, much of which is designed to be hidden. It's to fit around Contention City station from the 2007 remake of 3:10 to Yuma.A silly layout based around the idea of transit in the Tokyo-3 GeoFront from Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Happy #LetterboxdFriday! What's YOUR #LastFourWatched? I had a very "dad movie week" inadvertently themed around trains. First up a WW2 movie where the action looks real because IT WAS. No miniatures or camera trickery. 2 gritty Westerns showing the genre evolving, and a cheeky British crime caper.

1001 albums #70: What can be said about this album that hasn't already been said? I genuinely don't know.
Album art for The Beatles - "Rubber Soul"It's hard to rate The Beatles accurately because they're so foundational to so much that came after them that stuff that was groundbreaking at the time is just normal now, so this doesn't have the impact now that it might have done. Listening to, the song craft remains undeniable, though this is kind of the transitional album from their more straightforward love song mode to something a little deeper, it doesn't hurt the artistic heights of their next couple of albums. I'd say that the John Lennon songs are the strongest ones on this album, though "Run For Your Life" is just a nasty little slice of misogyny. I usually prefer Paul's songs, but his strongest here is "Michelle," which doesn't feel like a highlight. - 3

1001 albums #69: A bit naff, a bit awesome.
Album art for Billy Joel - "The Stranger"I know that it's not cool to like Billy Joel, but fortunately I've never been cool and never cared about being thought cool.

I've generally enjoyed the Billy Joel singles and greatest hits albums I've heard, but this was my first time listening to one of his studio albums all the way through, and it's crazy how many great songs are on here. There's 9 tracks and only the last 2 are weak. Best track is hard to determine but I think "Scenes From An Italian Restaurant" just shades it. - 4

1001 albums #68: The sound of heteroflexibility.
Album art for Suede - "Suede"I have complained that there are too many Britpop or Britpopesque albums on the list, and this selection certainly reinforces that.

I'm a hypocrite in that I'm a fan of the genre, and while Suede always seemed a little bit astroturfed by the British music press, that doesn't stop them from having some very good tunes. Plus Brett Anderson's perishing voice compliments the music well. Highlight: "Animal Nitrate." - 3

1001 albums #67: The sound and no fury, signifying nothing.
Album art for The Youngbloods - Elephant MountainI've seen The Youngbloods described as one of the forgotten bands of the 60s, and on the basis of this they deserved to be forgotten.

This is nothing. I've described some albums as basically musical wallpaper, and this doesn't even fit that vibe, this is the musical equivalent of the landlord special of off-white painted walls. There's just nothing to grab on to. I can't even point out particularly good or bad tracks, it's all just a bland mush of sameness.

It's not one star because it's not actively bad, it's just not actively anything. - 2

1001 albums #66: Absolutely out of sight
Album art for Stevie Wonder - Talking Book1970s Stevie Wonder was basically untouchable. The highlight here is "Superstition," obviously. And that song is so good that even if the rest of the album was just dogs farting into a microphone, it would still be five stars. Thankfully, that wasn't the direction opted for, and tracks such as "You Are The Sunshine Of My Life" and "I Believe (When I Fall In Love It Will Be Forever)" are worthy of hanging with "Superstition."

And this isn't even his best album! - 5
