finally updated the MeetingDebrief website to do its latest version justice, including a demo video. 😊 dictations, meeting transcriptions, summaries, action items, chatting with transcripts - all on your own computer.. *without* a subscription. meetingdebrief.com/

watched Runner yesterday, and it's a pretty good movie to switch off your mind for and holy shit, Reacher can act 🙂

ex: deleting a domain? don't error but ask to cancel it from the registrar as well registrar lets domain expire? remove it from the domains as well even down to individual confirmation prompts: some ask for the object name as a confirmation, some ask "delete" for confirmation

cloudflare is so great at individual features, but sometimes it's so dumb across it's portfolio..it feels like different companies in the same console they would go so hard on user happiness if they had a dedicated cross-feature team to make sure everything is integrated ...1/2

I really don't like how codex is now intercepting copying text from the terminal and messes with the formatting it used to copy the bullet points - those are in the actual output why does it need to control how you copy?

both Google and Firefox reviews publishes extensions within 20-30minutes, pretty amazing given the number of extensions ..while Apple takes 3-4 days if you're lucky 🫠

self-hosting on VPSes or dedicated servers is great for your wallet but you have to be prepared to handle incidents when something runs out of memory ..early sunday morning. 🫠

in the last couple of months, there's been a flood of websites asking for connections to local apps or devices if you're tired of denying them, disable that prompt entirely on: `chrome://settings/content/loopbackNetwork` (or brave:// - etc) which disabled the popup entirely

sometimes you just have to fold laundry and not worry about what your agents are up to
010
Martijn Smit @lostdomain.org · 24/09/2026
it's pretty much the exact same as regular containers yeah, they just prepared some nice images with agent tools major difference is the proxy that handles all network requests, but I appreciate that network control, it's good to see wtf they're doing and internetting

yes, been using it for a while and use it for codex as that one's so freaking snoopy - it breaks out of the project dir often and this is the only way I can block it but yes, I use a proper desktop OS and not a server OS masquerading as a desktop OS 😜 there are builds for linux, though?

while it is awesome to have and does fit into MeetingDebrief perfectly.. ..I have to be honest that adding live dictation was also a selfish quest to have less apps and less models running. 😅 I used Handy before (which is awesome), but it was loading the same model MD was..so this is efficient 😊

A lot of videos you see that are presenting a product or a slideshow are just websites btw you don't need fancy video creator tools, just create a website that shows the animation you want, tweak it to perfection, and use puppeteer/ffmpeg to record it into a video

TIL not to update my recording app before a deadline spent too much time troubleshooting, had to downgrade to get it to work again 😬

new in HackUtilities: it auto strips leading spaces when you copy text from agents solved one of my pet peeves: 2 leading spaces in every git commit...but not anymore 😊

this was fun to make! roughly 30% of MuteDeckers seem to use Home Assistant, but a lot didn't seem to know about the built-in webhook feature hoping to fix that 😊

keep your mind open to change it when you get new information sticking to your original point (x can't do y) after you've seen otherwise (x can do y) or come up with excuses, just feels like you just want to be right and it reflects poorly on you

I'm on a fiber connection with ~500Mbit and decent pings yet youtube always auto selects 360p for videos that have tutorials in them, making them unwatchable until I select a higher quality manually I don't get why it does this and how I can fix it, anyone have the same?

it's baffling to see Astra is still so dumb I asked it for a tag form input, which let's you type to search for tags and apply them as a filter ..and it wrote a recursive watcher loop crashing the browser 🫠 gpt-6-astra high btw.

I've been slowly adding LLM classifications to incoming emails (support & personal), being very careful about costs and prompt injections but TypeSafes' Jev made me much more confident in just doing it everywhere and I'm hoping to god this'll cut down so much overhead and annoyance 🤞

I don't know what's happening with macOS 27 and its quality, but I've had 8 reports of users with crashing apps of mine - all traced back to macOS bugs I know macOS 27 is a beta, but it never used to be this bad

Martijn Smit @lostdomain.org · 16/09/2026
if you have any kind of user-facing app: add a way to submit bug reports from the app directly, so it can send logs and all needed details for troubleshooting in 1 submission I'm so happy I don't have to ask for logs anymore

2 weeks of work, dozens of prototypes, 100s of prompts, all to save MuteDeckers ~1,2s each mute toggle - it's almost instant now, and Teams no longer has to come to the foreground 😊 Teams is so badly architected, making this so hard, but in the end it's worth it just look at the speed of this:
010
Martijn Smit @lostdomain.org · 11/09/2026
a few friends on the HackUtilities app didn't like the way I designed it, so Fable added a bunch of themes in no time the original design is rather loud, on purpose, so I understand the need for personalization architect your app correctly (components, views, etc) to make these changes a breeze

Martijn Smit @lostdomain.org · 11/09/2026
it's so funny seeing devs go from "Astra is the best thing ever, check out this 3js game!!" to "Astra is meh" when they actually started putting it to work making something work awesome at the frontend but poorly at the backend doesn't make a good product

Martijn Smit @lostdomain.org · 10/09/2026
I think I'm going to name the next MuteDeck release "speedy gonzales" as toggling mute/video/etc is going to be ~20x faster, status updates ~2x faster, scanning Zoom/Teams is ~7x faster all while using less resources 👍
000
Martijn Smit @lostdomain.org · 09/09/2026
in pursuit of simplification and having to do less: the MuteDeck mobile app is going to have a 1-click pairing approval process, not even having to scan the QR code 😊 auto discovers the desktop app in the same network, asks to pair and a code alignment does the rest
