The strange nature of the Hyrule Chronicle page has been somewhat clarified! And I want to correct my previous statement of regarding the page. Credits to @loruleanhistorian.bsky.social for bringing this up to me, in regards to the "mistakes".

A friendly reminder to the #Zelda community: the updated Timeline website, which apparently "confirmed" things, contains factual inaccuracies. For example: It states Link awakens Princess Zelda by wishing upon a Triforce before he even had obtained the Triforce of Courage.

That's true—the sealing of the Sacred Realm has moved around some. Before founding > after founding > before founding again. It exists in a period of time which has been largely left unexplored. Perhaps #OcarinaOfTime reborn will shed some light on it?

Following the Imprisoning War, efforts were made to erase the Demon King from record. This was done foremost in order to prevent a panic over his inevitable return. So, both the Demon King and the true history of the Zonai were buried deep underground…. #TheLegendOfZelda #TearsOfTheKingdom

So prior to the founding of Hyrule Kingdom, the world once protected by Goddess Hylia came to be called Hyrule. The descendants of Goddess Hylia came to be known as the Hylians, and they spread far & wide. But after a long period of peace, rumors of the Triforce caused waves of chaos…

The surface world was settled at the end of #TheLegendOfZelda #SkywardSword. This not only set the stage for the future founding of Hyrule Kingdom, but it also sowed the seeds for the birth of the Hylian people.

At the end of the day, Nintendo created these games; they wrote the scripts, they designed these characters and the scenarios. Nothing is made in a haphazard way. They selectively choose what to include. And that's all I will say on that.

Look, you are welcome to question these sources. But if you're going to hand wave every piece of information—and no narrator is reliable, then we cannot have any reasonable discussion. I won't participate in something that futile.

While Demon King Ganondorf was sealed by King Rauru, they were both frozen in time. Ganon is believed to be a manifestation of his hatred and rage. It's also said that Ganon once adopted the form of a Gerudo. And that story—in "Creating a Champion"—revolves around the events of #OcarinaOfTime.

Lorulean Historian @loruleanhistorian.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
As an aside: Demon King Ganondorf is not presented as Calamity Ganon. What I mean is, they're treated as two distinct individuals. Ganondorf doesn't appear to retain any memories of what Ganon has experienced. Malice is also not the same as gloom—the latter is much more potent.

Lorulean Historian @loruleanhistorian.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
It isn't Zelda who says it. The claim comes from his Hyrule Compendium entry. Zelda does add, however, in one of the voice memories that the demon king took the form of a boar and attributes this to the reason why the ancient statues of boars (Power) are so few and far between at present.

Lorulean Historian @loruleanhistorian.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
That form is specifically tied to Ganon losing his senses and becoming more and more of a vengeful specter after repeated resurrections and sealings. Dark Beast Ganon is considered his original form as Ganon.

In #TearsOfTheKingdom, "神話時代" is known as the Age of Legends. As in, the mythological era! And in its Master Works, p.372: "This section weaves together these fragments in order to explain Hyrule's Era of Myth, which began with the Zonai civilization."

"To know Calamity Ganon’s true form, one must know the story from an age long past. The demon king was born into this kingdom, but his transformation into Malice created the horror you see now. Stories of Ganon were passed from generation to generation in the form of legends and fairy tales."

New interpretation refers to the idea of bringing a new insight to an otherwise established fact; like breaking ground with a new discovery that alters our previous understanding. Rewriting the history textbook. It isn't that things have changed; just been clarified.

Lorulean Historian @loruleanhistorian.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
This is wholly opposite to the concept of "new interpretation," or Fujibayashi's development philosophy on not breaking the world and story of the Zelda series. Everything fits and makes sense when you accept Hyrule's founding as the genuine article. The cycle is whole.

Lorulean Historian @loruleanhistorian.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
Essentially, the references to past events we fans would recognize as specific games—and the context of a vast, connected world history—would mean nothing. It's all lost; destroyed; started over. Ganon isn't Ganon. Hyrule isn't Hyrule. It doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
130
Lorulean Historian @loruleanhistorian.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
Is it coincidence that Hyrule's history is one of repeated Ganon events? That each time he's appeared, a hero wielding the Master Sword and a sacred princess have worked together to seal him away? That names like Ruto and Nabooru have been passed down? 'Cause that's what a refounding would mean.

Breath of the Wild Master Works, p.360 "Sealing Requirements Despite the Sheikah's advanced technology, sealing Calamity Ganon required both the sacred princess and the hero chosen by the Master Sword. Such is Hyrule's fate bound to this cycle since the ancient Era of Myth."

If I were to touch upon the possibility, it is possible that although this tells a story of the founding of Hyrule, it could also have a history that's previously been destroyed. We didn't produce this in some random way, we thought 'would it be interesting to do it this way?',

3. If he isn't the original, then it conflicts with what was previously stated about Calamity Ganon; all of Breath of the Wild, and its Master Works—Creating a Champion—has underwent a retcon. Which does not jive with the developer philosophy shared in Famitsu 2023-09-06:

2. If he isn't the original, then all references to Hyrule's founding—of the surface dwelling races being in their infancy, just starting to develop their own cultures—is wrong. And if we can't trust what we're being told, then what's left to talk about? Who or what remains reliable?
100
Lorulean Historian @loruleanhistorian.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
1. If he isn't the original, then he can't be the source for Calamity Ganon. And Ganon once adopted the form of a Gerudo; he was a man named Ganondorf, who became the "Great King of Evil" and later, the "Calamity." None of these connections made build upon one another; they become mere coincidence.

And as Impa tells us: "The history of the royal family of Hyrule is also the history of Calamity Ganon, a primal evil that has endured over the ages. This evil has been turned back time and time again, by a warrior wielding the soul of a hero, and a princess who carries the blood of the Goddess."

Lorulean Historian @loruleanhistorian.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
None of this is altered in #TearsOfTheKingdom. The history of the Calamity is still recalled. All that changes is the size of our pool of information: now, we learn more about the source of evil in Hyrule. We learn that there was an original Ganondorf who became the Demon King in Hyrule's founding.

Lorulean Historian @loruleanhistorian.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
Ganon "once adopted the form of a Gerudo." The Dark Beast is "considered to be Ganon's original." "It's been called many names, from 'Great King of Evil' to 'Calamity.'" All of this is told to us in #BreathOfTheWild, and it aligns with what's explained in Creating a Champion.

The only person standing in the way of his machinations was a young man with the soul of the hero who wielded the Master Sword. His plans shattered, Ganondorf lost control, and his powers consumed him, transforming him into the Dark Beast Ganon.
