Almost all of the ones I have kept are Follow Your Heart. I think there is another company that has similar jars, but the labels are gone from my other jars, so I'm not sure. I keep dry cat food in them, and they keep it fresh. My cat is very confused when I use them for anything else! 😄

I was fortunate; a mutual on Twitter was kind enough to share an invite fairly early on. It was fun paying it forward!

Me too, but I took some time off of social media, and missed the chance to get my official Bluesky elder number. Mine is probably 51,351. I wish they would bring that back; very cool you got yours!

Libraries in the software sense are called libraries because back in the day there was a cupboard full of paper tape implementations of functions that had already been written and if you wanted to use that function you took it out of the physical library and copied it into your code then returned it

It's a fascinating book, and your son also does an excellent job reading the audiobook. Riveting, and so informative!

The first time I watched this was joyful; then the "heyyy, wait a minute, something's off" clicked in. Folks arguing that it doesn't matter make me think of Cypher's steak comment in The Matrix. www.youtube.com/watch?v=JODW...

In Africa, a Growing Underground Solar Boom
Households and businesses are driving a solar boom in Africa, where rooftop arrays and other small systems account for the bulk of new solar installations. But this rapid buildout, which is driving solar additions to record levels, is largely unaccounted for in official statistics, analysts say.

A Closer Look is my favorite part of the Seth Meyer podcast, so I would be perfectly happy if you guys would just do these. I understand that some people want to listen to celebrities tell us about upcoming projects; those people are not me. But usual show = more employed people: fine; do that too.

What a lovely collaboration! Some trivia: probably the earliest known U.S. version of that folk song originated less than 100 miles from where Ms. Parton was born (The Warfare is Raging; sung by T. Jeff Stockton, 1916). I wonder if that's part of what drew her to the song.

And, actually, the other series I was thinking of wasn’t Throughline either, although it was from NPR. It was No Compromise, back in 2021. Different subject, but similar milieu, and also extremely well-reported.

You’re welcome! I wanted to recommend it when you wrote the post, but I couldn’t remember who produced the series. It reminds me of a Throughline (by NPR) series quite a while back. I had to wait until a new episode came out to realize it was Bloomberg.

I've been finding Bloomberg Big Take podcast's Our Town series fascinating. I'm only two chapters in, but it seems like the bellwether in that series is a group of outsiders coming in to force a swing to the farthest of far-right (in Gainesboro, Tennessee).

With folks living in flood and fire zones, humans redirecting waterways, paving over permeable soil, and otherwise interfering with nature and causing weather changes, hundred-year events can now be ten-, five, even one-year events. In the not-too-distant future, they might be hundred-a-year events.
