Another squiggly river view from the Highlands of #Iceland taken in August this year. My October photography newsletter is out this weekend - if you haven't already subscribed, there's a link in my bio. You'll get a free guide to the perfect trip along Iceland's south coast when you subscribe :)

A black and white image with a squiggly braided river in the middle going to the bottom, some dark volcanic hills and plains in the middle, some pointy mountains on the horizon, and some grey clouds above (with a bright patch in between).

Realized in the middle of the night that I forgot to buy toothpaste, and I squeezed out the absolute last bit of it this morning. Then a lightbulb lit up in my head: the toiletry bag I got from my last trip!! A rare case of "I will need it someday" actually being useful :P

Really like this intense-looking, muscular black cat (I think it’s a cat because it has pointy ears!). The wall's texture gives the cat a rougher look, and the light on top is perfect as well. 📷️ iPhone 13 mini #Photography #City #Milan #Graffiti #StreetArt

I'm dying laughing at how the cat has conformed to her flower shaped bed today

A white cat is sleeping curled up in a med that has five fluffy white lobes of a flower petal, the cat has half her face peeking upwards and otherwise has filled the pentagonal space in the center of the bed completely

Thank you for the advice! This is my very first time growing plants outdoors, and I have never heard of garden fleece before! I will look into it.

Ah, so fertilizer is important for those beautiful flowers! Is fall still good to fertilize? I heard I should stop it for the winter, but I am confused about whether I should stop by fall or keep feeding them until it is truly cold outside.

Those same microbes are also responsible for the signature foul smell, which is mainly due to sulfur-containing compounds they produce as they ferment dietary proteins and sulfur-containing amino acids in the gut. Now you know a little more about what’s happening behind the scenes 💩

The stool component is just as fascinating. Stool is mostly water (75%), and you may have assumed the solid part is the waste from the food we ate. Surprisingly, close to half of the solid portion is bacterial mass: dead, alive, injured, and damaged fecal bacteria.

Normal bowel frequency in healthy adults actually spans a wide range. We often refer to the “3 and 3 rule”: anywhere from three bowel movements per day to three per week is considered normal and healthy.

#FunFact #FunFactMonday #41 ⚠️ Not safe to read while eating! ⚠️ 💡 Let’s talk about something important this week – Pooping! Growing up, many of us were told that pooping exactly once a day is the golden standard. While that’s fine, it isn’t 100% correct.

So...two salons, communicated in two different languages, and still ended up with uneven hair.

000

Loretta @loretta1960.bsky.social · 10/10/2026

Now I have shorter hair with even more uneven ends. When I expressed that, the guy literally said: "I could barely work because you wouldn't let me do it!!" Well, I had no idea what you planned to do because you kept silent about your unknown plan while cutting my hair!

100

Loretta @loretta1960.bsky.social · 10/10/2026

Went to another salon today with a new hairdresser. Watched him work carefully, expressed my concerns, and made sure he understood what I asked for: to shorten the layers. He stayed silent while I expressed my opinion, then quickly finished.

100

Loretta @loretta1960.bsky.social · 10/10/2026

Okay, I am super pissed again after letting my hair down. Went to a salon in February, came out with slightly uneven ends that the hairdresser said were due to layering. Not super happy, but tolerable.

100

Loretta @loretta1960.bsky.social · 10/10/2026

Reasons why I have long hair right now: 1. A bun is so much easier to cover with a cap without bits poking out of every corner. 2. I haven't found a good hairdresser in the city yet, so it's easier to hide poorly cut ends by tying them up in a ponytail or bun 🙃
