Ahab - by LORD

A piece of digital art with an incredibly bright neon colour scheme. It features the character Finfin; a blue dolphin/bird hybrid with long flippers for wings and avian legs. He appears to be haggard as he has been impaled with a stylised black whaling harpoon with a coiling red rope attached to the base; draping over his wing. He is scarred. The background is a bright yellow with a magenta square off centre.

Art by LORD - "Effigy"

A digital painting. The pallette is bleak and muted; it features a stiff & almost plastic man with chibi proportions, hollow black eyes, a small triangular mouth and brown curly hair. He is wearing an oversized black turtleneck, faded blue jeans and off white socks. A pickaxe is embedded in the left side of his head; resulting in an oil like substance spurting from the impact and running down his face. The room is mostly bare except for a large, red & shiny kidneybean on the floor next to a eurocylinder locking mechanism. Three glowing blue orbs ars suspended from the ceiling casting multiple shadows and offering some subtle blue back glow

A cluster of robust, tufted yellow ochre mushrooms growing amongst fallen beech nut shells & leaves. These are most likely the grey form of Mullet Honeyfungus (Armillaria Cepistipes) it has an orchre cap, a pale yellow & scaley stipe with a small black ring.

🍄📷 📷🍄 This ghost bolete showed up a little later than expected! Still, there were chanterelles popping up too (and ticks), so the season is definitely somewhat fuckt
A mottled white mushroom with a greyish brown bitemark on the cap grows amongst some lush sphagnum moss, grass and scattered birch leaves. The Ghost Bolete (Leccinum holopus) is a somewhat rare mushroom in the Uk; it's white all over with a spongey, porous hymenophore under the smooth cap & has a rough stipe that is sturdy yet fairly consistent in width.

🍄📷 📷🍄 This sums up my lunchtime foraging experience during work hours
A very large and gnarled Penny Bun mushroom (Boletus Edulis) laid upon the rim of a wooden communal, earth-filled ashtray with cigarette butts in the background. The mushroom was around 24 cm long with a very beefy, cream coloured stipe covered in a pale webbed texture. The cap is a mottled bronze to chesnut with some white patches, and the off-white spongey spore-baring mass is visible underneath. It was, unfortunately, soft and maggot eaten.

🍄📷 📷🍄ohoho, new spot discovered
A pair of rather chunky bright orange mushrooms held in an open palm. Golden Chanterelle (Cantharellus Aurora) is a smaller & more dense mushroom when compared to its family member Cantharellus Cibarius. Its cap is flat to concave with an uneven edge; leading to decurrent, false gills that are a pale yellow to orange. It has a pleasant, almost apricot smell in addition to the sort of peppery & earthy scents. The inside of the flesh is off white.

🍄📷 📷🍄 no talk me angy
A pair of young Dusky Puffballs (Lycoperdon Nigrescens) growing amongst the pebbledash-esque detritus found under a beech hedge. These cream, capless fungi have a spikey pearled texture covering them with tiny black to brown tips that will continue to darken as they age. The larger one appears to have a bum crack.

🍄📷 📷🍄Some gnarly penny buns I found on my way home after taking a detour
A stout, aged Penny Bun mushroom (Boletus Edulis) in the early stages of being attacked by Bolete Eater (Hypomyces chrysospermus). Its short and round stipe features characteristic webbing but seems to have more of a yellowish tinge now. The once chesnut coloured cap is cracked and covered in patches of grey and white mould.A practically spherical mushroom with a little flat chesnut cap and cream stem. A strange and possibly parasitises Penny Bun (Boletus Edulis) The stipe is almost reminiscent of sourdough in this instance.A twin capped Penny Bun (Boletus Edulis) with a thick off-white, mesh covered stipe. 🍄📷 📷🍄Fucker grew at a jaunty angle
A familiar red mushroom with white 'spots' growing at a 45° angle from some compacted dry moss as the edge of a Brown Rollrim mushroom (paxillus involutus) peeks in from the side. The classic Fly Agaric (amanita muscaria) has a red to orange cap with a white stipe & a ruffled universal veil near the top. The white spots are the remnants of the volva it 'hatched' from as it grew and its gills are also white. This mushroom is poisonous as muscimol is a cnc depressant. Can be detoxified by parboiling thoroughly but not a choice edible imo

Chicken of the woods (Laetiporus sulphureus) is a choice edible polypore that parasitises oak, yew and some other hardwoods. It can taste and feel like chicken (though others get a more mushroomy impression).

A large cream frilly mushroom mass growing amongst twigs and fallen pine needles. The Cauliflower mushroom (Sparassis Crispa) is a choice edible, though some react badly to it. It has a strong, savoury smell (almost seasalt and vodka to me personally) and a sort of rubbery, firm texture

🍄📷 📷🍄I wish they'd stop mowing the grass here 😔
A slippery mushroom with a honey coloured cap growing amongst mown grass. The Larch Bolete (Suillus grevillei) has brown scales speckling the stipe and a ring zone from where a veil connected the cap as it was growing; said cap features a yellow sponge like porous surface where spores are produced. Edible but needs drying and thorough cooking.

A stout, sandy and firm mushroom growing near some roots and moss. A baby King Bolete (Boletus Edulis) with its wide stipe to cap ratio, caramel cap and overall roundness. They can sometimes have a darker cap at this age but it will end up with a telltale white rim as it opens up with a porous, spongey looking underside.

🍄📷 📷🍄 The miller!
A small, off-white mushroom growing in leaf litter. It has a suede like texture on the curled cap and gills that extend down the twisting stipe somewhat. The miller mushroom (Clitopilus Prunulus) has a distinct smell of raw dough or semen. It is edible but resembles some very poisonous species, so shouldn't be sought out unless absolutely sure and able to recognise the look-alikes.

A Destroying Angel (Amanita Virosa) amongst moss and twigs. This brilliant white mushroom has a smooth cap with a slight umbo on the top, a prominent universal veil on the tall stipe and spore baring gills. It is deadly poisonous; gastro-intestinal upset followed by recovery then by death from liver and kidney failure within days.

🍄📷 📷🍄 My pal picked up a nasty specimen when we were out foraging (he knew what family it was in though, so he was at no risk of eating it)
Tawny, slightly rainwashed mushroom with cinnamon coloured webbing; could be a Variable Webcap or Stocking Webcap (cortinarius sp. Either Anomalus or Torvus). It has a cream ring around the cap with rusty brown to grey gills. The stipe features a small ring where the cortina (webbed part of the veil) was connected whilst it was growing. This mushroom is toxic.

🍄📷 📷🍄narrowed this down to two potential fuckos, though one is significantly more dangerous than the other.
A tall white veiled mushroom in the amanita family. It is either a slightly slug eaten Destroying Angel (amanita virosa) or a False Deathcap (amanita citrina). Its white stipe is shaggy and ruffled. Based on these two potentialities, this mushroom would either send you into a coma in 4 days, requiring liver and kidney transplants or taste like raw potatoes.
