Quitting cold turkey never sticks but just making it harder to access actually works. Time Out (iOS) lets you lock Twitter on a schedule or for a set number of hours so the option literally isn't there. apps.apple.com/ie/app/time-o...

Gaming is so much better for your brain than the scroll hole lol. Time Out (iOS) lets you block social apps on a schedule so they're just gone when you wanna game - no temptation, no willpower. apps.apple.com/ie/app/time-ou...

The asterisk got me lol. Time Out (iOS) lets you lock social apps for a set number of hours so doom scrolling literally isn't an option - sometimes removing the choice is the only way to actually get stuff done. apps.apple.com/ie/app/time-o...

Two years of doomscrolling instead of creating is such a relatable trap. Time Out (iOS) lets you block social apps on a schedule or lock them for a set hours so they're just gone - easier to actually draw and write when scrolling isn't an option apps.apple.com/ie/app/time-out

The "I'd just turn it off" thing is real but Time Out (iOS) makes that harder with streak tracking and scheduled locks that actually push back. Worth trying before outsourcing the job to a human lol apps.apple.com/ie/app/time-out-app-blocker-and-lock/id6738120947

That need for validation keeps you stuck in the scroll loop and it's exhausting. Time Out (iOS) can lock social apps so the option just isn't there when you're tired and vulnerable. Sometimes removing the choice is the only thing that works apps.apple.com/ie/app/time-ou...

The FOMO of missing posts is so real but it keeps you from the stuff you actually want to enjoy. Time Out (iOS) lets you block all socials on a schedule so tgcf and anime time is protected - the posts will still be there later apps.apple.com/ie/app/time-out-app-blocker-and-lock/id6738120947

That spiral of worry into doomscrolling is brutal and it makes everything worse. Time Out (iOS) can lock social apps the moment you feel yourself slipping, so the scroll hole just isn't there. Sometimes blocking the escape route is the reset you need.

Matthew Pierce @lookwhatmattmade.com · 08/06/2026
Classic trap lol. Time Out (iOS) lets you block social apps during work hours on a schedule so they're literally inaccessible - no willpower needed. Just set it once and they disappear until you're done.

The exam week timing makes this actually urgent lol. Time Out (iOS) lets you lock social apps for a set number of hours so doomscrolling literally isn't an option - sometimes removing the choice is the only way to actually sit down and study.

YouTube before bed is such a trap. Time Out (iOS) lets you block it on a schedule, like auto-lock after 10pm every night, so the option just isn't there when you're tired and vulnerable to the scroll hole.

Those weekly reports are brutal to look at lol. Time Out (iOS) lets you block the social apps on a schedule so the screen time actually drops and you have space for reading - way easier than white-knuckling it.

Literally just block the apps so the option isn't there. Time Out (iOS) lets you lock social media for the next 2 hours or set a daily schedule - no willpower needed, they're just inaccessible until you decide otherwise.

You don't have to nuke your account to escape the scroll trap. Time Out (iOS) lets you block Instagram on a schedule so it's just unavailable during your weak moments but still there when you actually want to check in on people. Best of both worlds.

Matthew Pierce @lookwhatmattmade.com · 05/06/2026
That paralysis-to-doomscroll loop is so real. Time Out (iOS) can literally lock the social apps so when you hit that overwhelmed state, the escape hatch isn't there. Sometimes removing the option is easier than fighting the urge.

Matthew Pierce @lookwhatmattmade.com · 05/06/2026
Deleting feels drastic but journaling is genuinely a great swap! Before nuking everything though - Time Out (iOS) lets you block socials on a schedule so you get the mental break without losing the account. Best of both worlds tbh

we've all been there lol. Time Out (iOS) lets you block social apps during work hours on a schedule so they just aren't an option - no willpower needed, they're literally inaccessible until you're done for the day.

That restless "can't focus on anything" feeling almost always ends in doomscrolling. Time Out (iOS) lets you just lock social apps for the next 2 hours so the option isn't even there - removes the temptation before it wins.

Matthew Pierce @lookwhatmattmade.com · 04/06/2026
That determination is real and worth protecting! Time Out (iOS) is great for this - you can lock social apps for a set block so you're literally forced to pick up a book instead. Pairs well with that mindset shift you're already making.

been there, deleting apps never sticks anyway. Time Out lets you block social feeds on a schedule so they're just unavailable during work hours but still there when you actually want them. keeps the apps, kills the habit loop.

But from it, I've built something else. Something like my own version of shipfa.st. I forked the repo and removed all the application code. Now I have an AI ready skeleton for my next SaaS venture. Email, billing, landing page, back end, front end, continuous monitoring, error monitoring. Everything

The only way forward was to go through Reddit for full commercial access for $$$. Which I didn't have. I mean, they're right, I'm wrong. If I got paying customers, then I'd be violating their ToS. But it still hurts. This thing rocked. And it worked with all real time posts and comments. Was chuffed

Matthew Pierce @lookwhatmattmade.com · 02/06/2026
The fix was simple. Reset my Reddit password and reconnect my account to my tool. Easy. Not so fast. Reddit clearly saw my posts were flowing through my ancient Reddit develop app, and they decided to take that off me. Gone. Poof. No more.
100
Matthew Pierce @lookwhatmattmade.com · 02/06/2026
But I got too greedy. The tool was actually working incredibly well, and one day I was approving draft after draft when they stopped going through and I started getting errors. Reddit flagged my activity as suspicious. Bound to happen. I'm happy it did so I could figure out how to fix it for prod.

Matthew Pierce @lookwhatmattmade.com · 02/06/2026
And it worked. Better than I was expecting. I connected pencil.dev for all my design needs and it made things really straightforward. Supabase and Vercel, with a Fly.io box for all the reddit monitoring. All made sense. All worked. It sort of scaled, but that was a problem for future me.

And honestly. It nailed it. Now I'm not starting from zero. I'm not YOLOing prompts like "build me an app plz" at it. I structured the repo right. Had subdirectories for different facets of the app with individual CLAUDE and PLAN files. I had claude hooks for updating plans and decision diaries.
100
Matthew Pierce @lookwhatmattmade.com · 02/06/2026
Reddit makes this hard. You need a commercial license. Luckily I had an old dev app lying around from before they made these rule changes. Jackpot. This was going to be my first "vibecoded" app. Truly not a single line of code written from me. An experiment.
100
Matthew Pierce @lookwhatmattmade.com · 02/06/2026
So I built a thing. It was to solve this exact problem: 1. Enter keywords you want to monitor Reddit for (posts and comments) 2. Run a small AI model against them for sentiment against your product description 3. Draft an AI reply adhering to subreddit rules 4. One click post the ones you like
100
Matthew Pierce @lookwhatmattmade.com · 02/06/2026
But it's a bit too simple. I would get an email with mentions and after paying for a step up in tiers, I was soon overwhelmed with mentions. There was no way I could check these, let alone action the ones worth getting involved in.

Matthew Pierce @lookwhatmattmade.com · 02/06/2026
I was looking for tools that allowed me to find realtime info on Reddit of people searching for solutions to doom scrolling so I could weigh in and suggest using Time Out. The first thing I found was F5Bot (f5bot.com) which is actually just a really great simple tool.

I was a critic of Liquid Glass when it came out and it’s still not great. But some apps have done well with it. I think WhatsApp and Reddit do it well #ios #liquidgass

Ugh, the only good thing about the update to AppStore Connect analytics is now it lives in the app tab. The overview having no way to change the time series makes no sense. Why does it default to last 90 days?? Saved views are gone. Active sessions are gone. Hour by hour view is gone. #iosdev

Ever since Opus 4.6 dropped, it seems like my Pro plan 5 hour limit gets hit super fast. I thought switching back to Sonnet (even though it's also 4.6 now) would have helped, but still going faaaaast. Have usage limits changed? #claude #claudecode #anthropic

It's great that Xcode can now work with Claude, but is it somehow dumber? There's no plan mode, which is annoying and it seems to be going in circles with Opus - I think I might be switching back to command line Claude Code for iOS, this somehow seems poor.

I played with www.pencil.dev to see if it could be my AI designer and it's awesome. It uses your current Claude Code subscription and gets to work. I asked it to design a site I want to build to allow iOS devs to dump keywords in and it organises them into title, subtitle and keywords
