Central banks cut interest rates to zero and left them there, and then embarked on the questionable policy of QE. It’s not clear how much help they needed for that.

Robert E Hall and Michael Woodford helped central banks respond to 2008 financial turmoil

Unfortunately I've come to the view that many L&E folks don't think we're serious thinkers. They think we're some combination of hackish, soft-headed, and antisemitic. The LPE stuff that they think is good/challenging is just the exception or lucky or something.

Good stuff! But, I’m sorry, the reason the debate is stuck is that economists can’t seem to read more than two LPE articles, or at least they pretend not to. Look at the Hovenkamp response to New Brandeis, which you hold out as an example, in that symposium!

1/ The L&E vs. LPE debate is stuck. One side asks if LPE is rigorous enough to satisfy economists; the other says economists' rigor hides value judgments. At LPE Blog this morning, I offer a way to break the stalemate. 🧵 lpeproject.org/blog/what-co...

[Zizek voice] The Turing Test is an impoverished version of Hegel's notion of mutual recognition. The true test is not whether LLMs are human but what sort of dialectical relationships with humans they produce.

Brands paid ad companies money to prevent this type of ad placement from happening and the FTC declared it an antitrust violation (tho they likely wouldn’t win in court) and pushed those companies to agree to stop doing it.

Reminder that the FTC went after ad companies for collusive boycotts because they “censored” hate accounts by giving companies ways to avoid placing ads next to them. I wonder if we’ll see that here

Sure. I don't think it's reconstructive unless it aims for a new settlement and at least partially achieves it. And I also am at best only somewhat hopeful that that's what this Democratic Party will cook up, given continued weakness of insurgent left political movements among other things. But!
