Theres a difference between his public platform he's running on, and his quality as a person. I mean the platform as it exists and is being presented to voters. I was unaware of staff leaving, but I do think Fettermans leaving AFTER he's a sitting senator is very different.

No I agree that Platner sucks and is likely a grifter. I just disagree on the correct strategy for the left at this point in time. I also think almost every senator sucks. You can't become a US senator without being a liar and a POS. Look at Warren. Warren lied and is shitty. But shes an asset too

Well he has an incredibly successful campaign so far on his record. I agree he kinda sucks. There isn't a single senator who doesn't kinda suck. To differing degrees. I just think politics isn't about voting for the correct opinions, it's about gains and losses, and getting enough votes.

It's also pretty possible Platner wins and actually votes how he says he would. He has a public platform that's great. I think if we're honest about strategy. It's him or losing. At this point in the game.

He had a historic swing in support to such a devastatingly low number. And all of his staff left cuz they hate him. Maybe as an independent but he won't win as a Democrat. I will concede it's possible. PA has crazy voting history but I think its pretty unlikely

Platner is very popular in Maine. Most of the hate is online and not at his massive rallies Mills is 78 years old. People would rather have the old fuck they know than the corporate Dem with no seniority, on no committees, and will give them another chance to lose in four years

There's a pretty solid number of veterans in the Senate and in Congress. Not saying it's a guaranteed win, but from an outside country it's a massive number to be around 15-20%

Hey if Americans wanted to stop voting for veterans with a massive advantage I'd support that. In Canada you get essentially no buff for being in the military. I think the tattoo, which people love to pretend they knew the name and exact dtls of, is no worse than being a merc or soldier imo
