I lived in a “3rd world country” for 2yrs. Highjacked power lines, rolling blackouts, bad meat, poison water, etc. When the US petro dollar collapses in the near future/fiat dollars everywhere, I know what the USA will become. I hate that every memory of my baby boy was mixed w/ trauma. It’s been 15 yrs since I escaped the psycho ex (forced to live in a 3rd world country). My boy is now 20 & my instinct to protect him lives on (solo mom), but I hate those memories. Joy mixed with fear & abuse. That wreckage was fatal.

Testimony of lower “middle class” life. I had 3 mo’s mortgage money in my savings account. My safety net. AC broke down yesterday in the middle of a typical Aug TX heatwave. $12k to replace the 25 yr old HVAC system. Savings wiped-out (and having to finance the rest) that fast. Check-to-check! 🤬

Part of what makes home ownership so hard is not only loan interest rates, but property taxes too. I propose property taxes should have a limit per home (per purchase) for individual home buyers (not corporations). Paying endless real estate taxes is insane. Cities can raise funds many other ways.
