Willard: They told me that you had gone totally insane, and that your methods were unsound. Wakeman: Are my methods unsound? Willard: I don't see any method at all, sir.

Inspired by M’s post I’ve gone on a derive around some London record stores, starting in Islington. So far I’ve picked up a Duke Ellington CD collection

The winner of the CeeBeebies ‘Design a Record Cover’ Competition has been announced
Apparently the cover for the next release by Echo and The Bunnymen. Drawn/painted in a faux naïf style it shows a red apple sat on a wooden fence. Behind it there is a field with two apple trees. The one furthest away is on a small island in a pool of water. There is a darker green line on the horizon, suggesting a hedge, above it is a blue sky with white clouds.
Above the picture is the band’s name. Below is the title: Apples for Isaac.
Both are in the same boring lazy ass font

Popped up to Market Harborough this morning and was deeply saddened to see that Mr Gilbert, the proprietor of this old fashioned hardware store, has died. Every shelf and surface was stacked with paraphernalia but if he had it stock he knew just where to find it. The end of an era.
The front of old school was fashioned domestic hardware shop with closed door, but items in the window.
If it was open there would be baskets and other items out on the street .
The shop sign reads Frank Gilbert, Housewares. Est. 1948

David Toop’s Ocean of Sound compilations made connections between music I knew and sounds that were new. Before that, the Pennies from Heaven TV soundtrack opened my ears to the joys of prewar dance bands

Wondering what happened to boy who played Joey in Airplane! (Do you like Gladiator movies Joey?). I discovered via Wiki that he was later part of a band that toured with Beck & Stereolab - featuring a sax player who performed in the nude. Answers the question “Have you ever seen a grown man naked?”
