Frank is the last of the Rapper Sword makers. Rapper is a dance devised by Northumberland & Durham miners. The dance is thriving; supply of swords is not... 50 years ago Frank's dad said to him 'don't let anything leave your workshop that you're not proud to put your name on'... and Frank hasn't.

Macklemore's statement on Palestine and Ed Sheeran is calm, measured, from the heart, and absolutely correct. Stand for something or stand for nothing, there is no apolitical when we're talking about the murder of tens of thousands of children, and more. www.instagram.com/p/DdRdsy0m2H...

Haven't done any black and white for a good long while, I should get back to some of that at some point. Here are some from over the years. #Photography #ThePhotoHour #BlackandWhite

2 cooling towers of a power station - it's very cloudy

a loch, with low mountains and a small town visible across the middle. The sky, and so reflection, are mostly clear

a strip of steep land diagonally from bottom left to middle right, with a power line on it. Behind there are stormy clouds and the sea

Lee House in Peterlee, a severe looking building with sets of three, thin, vertical windows, the angle is looking up at it on a slight diagonal

First new* picture in a long time, The Wolfson Building taken from the Tees at Stockton. Part of Durham University. *end of May, just haven't had the time, will, or energy to look at the handful of photos I've taken this year. #Photography #architecture

a long, mostly low building taken from the river. It has three taller bits that are pleasantly situated at equally spaced intervals, though the left and right are taller than the middle bit. Trees are obscuring most of the lower parts of the building

Today is the 201st anniversary of the '1825 North Sands Massacre' in Sunderland. Sailors on strike & bystanders were gunned down by the authorities, the inquest conclusion 'justifiable homicide'. Another example in Britains long & bloody history of state violence. This is from the 200th anniversary.

Unexpected stars of the Durham Miners' Gala yesterday. A crowd on Elvet Bridge highly amused by some... eccentric rowing. To quote one observer 'they've changed seats twice, and still can't get it out of the tree' 😶🛶

People watching a terrible example of how to row a boat. Two people in a rowing boat stuck near the riverbank and a tree.

It was so good to be at the Gala today, just enjoying it rather than working. Every year they have an artist design the merch, this year was Redhills' slogan 'The Past We Inherit, The Future We Build'. It looked fabulous. Our film was being advertised on the show field. What a day.
