this analogy falls down because dividing zero by zero is actually really easy and the answer is definitely zero (say you are dividing a pizza, and the amount of pizza you have is zero, nobody is going to get any pizza simple as that. & luckily you don't have anyone to divide it among either)

A mouse took a stroll through the deep dark shop. The mouse saw a box and it made him stop. 'Where are you going to, Macmillan box? Let me scan all your contents into stock.' 'It's frightfully nice of you, mouse, but no - My contents are under embargó.' 'An embargó? What's an embargó?'

now i have found a more granular map i am getting crosser and crosser. why does it make a particular jink to omit the Newman Arms? it is absolutely daft for the fitzroy tavern and the wheatsheaf to be in one constituency and the newman arms in another

From the new Robert Harris
From AGRIPPA, by Robert Harris, p. 235.

The exquisite food was his native Etruscan - duck, boar deer, doves, fox - as was the wine, which was superb. After we had eaten and drunk until we could stuff ourselves no more, Maecenas called upon his tame poets to perform. Vergil went first and read out a lot of dull stuff about farming, followed by Horatius, whose verses were as filthy as anything I had ever heard in an army camp, and therefore far more to my taste, although I would hardly have called them poetry. We all applauded, and the two authors congratulated one another on the brilliance of their respective compositions with elaborate insincerity. Poets, I have noticed, are more like politicians than they care to admit.

no idea why this lad is so pleased to have been given a free copy of 'impossible creatures' - he already has it, both in hardback and paperback. they are on the shelf just to the left of his head. (and i am pretty sure there is a second copy of the hbk on the stack just above his head, too.)
