Reading through the Web Bot Auth Usecases Draft (datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/dra...) & the mailing list. Human authentication is about humans gaining access to sites. Bot authentication is about protecting sites from bot access. What happens when the bot is a user agent? e.g. ATs & chat bots.

3 day migraine ended yesterday, so I’m not working today (bar one meeting). I think I’m going to write a post about working for myself as a disabled person at some point. TLDR; the money is worse but the peace of mind is much, much better.

& I don’t mean reading WCAG, I mean implementing WCAG. The assumptions WCAG makes means that right-to-left & down-to-up scripts, scripts not encoded in unicode, languages which have long compound words (& can’t be broken up), grammar with alt spacing rules, etc can’t implement WCAG.

WCAG is a great example of the the failure of the W3C's (& TBL's & in many way's Ted Nelson's) one web principle/dream/goal. WCAG is biased in favour of English. Other Latin scripts and languages benefit from that bias but other writing systems are disadvantaged.

Preface: I don’t believe in the AI hype. —— The intro of AI has changed online search. Users search the web with AI, which could make traditional search redundant in future. Could AI eventually replace the browser entirely & become the primary web user agent?

Been on ADHD medication for just over a month now & my relationship with rest has changed. Unmedicated, my task list causes overwhelm which leads to executive dysfunction. And so resting feels unearned and I feel guilt for being "lazy"* *I don't believe in laziness in the capitalist sense.

Thinking about how to compute "accessibility-supported" in ACD. E.g. for the button element ARIA-AT has 3 tests, each one can be PASSING/FAILING/UNTESTABLE. WPT has 295 tests & subtests, each one can be PASS/FAIL. How should we combine these results to get an accessibility-support status?

Got a copy of Ted Wilson’s Computer Lib/Dream Machines & woah! It’s so much more radical than I expected. It’s funny bc as I was reading TBL’s ‘Weaving the Web’ I made notes about how TBL’s vision for the web had capitalist motives. CL/DM is definitely *not* that.

I’ve just done my expenses for the quarter and without my ADHD meds, I actually have less expenses than I did in 2025 & 2024. However, my ADHD meds & drs appointments add £1000 (for the quarter) so things have bumped up significantly 🥲

It was lovely to show the WIP of my short film at Photographer's Gallery yesterday. It was well received and I'm looking forward to finishing it. 💙

Next month’s ADHD meds cost £162.67 with my clinician’s pharmacy, the prescription is for 30mg Elvanse & 5mg Dexanfetamine. Shopped around and Asda charge the cheapest at £113.16 for both meds, making a saving of £49.51. I can’t wait to get on the NHS for this.

Yesterday was probably the most stressful day I’ve had this year (or maybe second most stressful). So today I’m resting, I’ve order breakfast & I’m just going to chill. The only thing is today’s also the first day of my dose increase for my ADHD meds so we’ll see how much rest I actually get.

This is a bit of a vulnerable question but how do you deal with getting stuff you “should” know wrong? e.g. you’re a mathematician & should know 2+2=4 but you’ve said it’s 5, how do you deal with the feelings of incompetence?

It's a genuine shame the accessibility of Linux as a whole is so poor because I think screen reader users would really benefit from the level of configurability and choice in Linux. I would love to ditch Windows forever but I need to do my screen reader testing somehow.

Day 2 of Elvanse (ADHD meds), my memory seems slightly worse but I’m getting a lot done around the house. Yday I was able to tidy up, get my nails done, go into central ldn to pick up some bits & see a friend. This time last week, that would’ve been too much for one day.
