There is my life before Bastion and after Bastion, which made its debut on Xbox Live Arcade 20 July 2011. Without it, Supergiant Games doesn't exist. I recorded the game's 3000ish lines of VO here in Darren Korb's bedroom over the course of about 14 months. Happy 15 to our scrappy little video game.

I read this part of @philnobilejr.bsky.social always-great Monstrous Musings in today’s Fangoria newsletter on the new @darkskyfilms.bsky.social CHAIN REACTIONS bluray, which includes a Super 8mm cut of TEXAS CHAINSAW, and now *have* to get it

And then there’s what’s maybe the most fun inclusion, a transfer of a 1978 Super 8mm print of the movie. Some context: If you were a kid in the ’70s, before home video, Super 8 movies were the only way you could watch certain titles at home. They’d play them at birthday parties and such. The problem was Super 8 reels had finite running time limits, so the films would be considerably condensed. This means that what you get here is a 22-minute version of Tobe Hooper’s masterpiece, a kind of “Oops, All Murders” speedrun through the film. It becomes almost abstract, a nightmare presented with actual dream logic. It kinda works?

Isiah Whitlock Jr was a familiar presence in NYC theater as well as film/tv. We had quite a few mutuals and I met him more than once. He even popped up at a music show at my regular dive bar once because he happened to know some of the band. Warm and funny and impossibly good-natured. RIP
