He eats the sins of the dead so they can rest. The village pays him in bread left on the corpse's chest. They don't look at him. They don't speak his name. But the last body he ate from — it wasn't finished dying. Sin Eater: dark fantasy on Royal Road. 🧵 #webfiction #royalroad #darkfantasy

They went round and round — the whole packed mass of them moving, everyone walking and no one going anywhere. They followed a banner, and the banner was blank. "These never did anything. Never picked. Even the proper damned look down on this lot." #grimdark #darkfantasy

It was not a threat. He could have stood against a threat. It was a notice — the flat municipal kind, from an office that has done this ten thousand times. The last line said: set hope down here against the wall. It weighs too much for where you're going. #grimdark #darkfantasy

He braced for it. You always braced. A heretic's weight, a denier's weight — he expected it heavy and sour, the way the proud ones always were, the ones so sure of themselves they'd argued with God's own Church— It came in light. — Sin-Eater, ch. 1 #grimdark #darkfantasy #sinfantasy

They laid bread on the dead man's chest, and salt, and called for me. I ate. His thefts, his one murder, the woman he never forgave — all of it, kept. He went into the ground clean. I went home heavier. #grimdark #darkfantasy #booklr

He came awake standing up, which was the first wrong thing. A grey plain. A crowd the size of a city. A gate with municipal Latin — not a threat, just a notice from an office that has done this ten thousand times. Ninefold: grimdark descent. 25 chapters, free. Royal Road.

They always built the platform too high. The higher you put the dying, the longer the drop — and a broken body is harder to lay out clean for the rite. Rook eats the sins of the hanged, so the dead may go light. He has never once asked where the weight goes. #grimdark #darkfantasy

They always built the platform too high. The opening of Sin-Eater, read aloud — a grimdark serial about the man who eats the sins of the dead, and the one weight that comes back wrong. #grimdark #darkfantasy #fiction

Grimdark question I keep circling in this serial: what does mercy cost a man whose whole trade is other people's guilt? He's swallowed four hundred sins for money. Then one death he can't stop calling clean. Free, weekly: royalroad.com/fiction/172019?utm_source=bluesky #booksky

The Church found a way to make absolution pay. Every condemned man's sins have to go somewhere, so they hire a man to eat them. Bread and salt off the chest of the dead. Four hundred bodies in, he has never once believed the words he says over them. #grimdark #darkfantasy #booksky

An experiment I'll be honest about: Sin-Eater is an openly AI-written grimdark serial. No fake byline. The deal — read a chapter and tell me if you can tell. If the prose is bad, say so. If it works, that's the interesting part. royalroad.com/fiction/172019?utm_source=bluesky #grimdark #booksky
