I'll be sleeping through Botic's match (and I don't watch that other guy anyway), but here's a phonetic note for the man of the hour, since his last on-court interviewer put a "shlup" at the end of his name, which is even worse than "shulp".

Zheng's game is formidable when it's on, but her behaviour towards Siniakova at Wimbledon put me right off. That kind of thing goes beyond cultural differences Rybakina making the SF and going no. 1 brings credit to Stefano Fuckoff too, so that's soured. But on balance I'm siding with Rybakina here

I’m very sorry that Carlitos lost to that MAGA fuckwit. But I’m also amazed the boy genius got so far and so close to the SF. He was charming and philosophical afterwards. I suspect he’ll be very, very dangerous for the remainder of the season.

I saw very little of Wimbledon week 1 because I moved house and had no internet. Been enjoying week 2. I'm mostly ignoring the men's but was delighted by the women's SF line-ups. Thrilled to see Muchova fit, fabulous, and in with a good chance, though Noskova winning would be an acceptable outcome.

Naomi Osaka warming up at Wimbledon. She is wearing an all white ensemble that Vogue describes as such: Working with Tokyo-based designer Hana Yagi, Osaka will walk on court at the All England Club today in a custom white creation inspired by Japanese ceremonial dress. Embroidered cranes stretch across the fabric. Cherry blossoms climb its surface. A dramatic trailing bow streams behind her, giving the silhouette an almost weightless quality before its layers peel away to reveal the Nike kit beneath. Finished with a traditional kanzashi hair ornament and Mikimoto jewelry, the ensemble transforms the walk from the locker room to the court into a fleeting performance of its own.

Really interesting insights from Jakub Mensik's coach and mental coach about how he has trained himself to remain calm and composed in the biggest moments. There's a self confidence, both innate and trained, that could be key against Zverev today ⬇️ www.nytimes.com/athletic/733...

Jakub Menšík’s tennis rise looked inevitable. Instead, he found the tools to make it happen
The 20-year-old Czech's self-confidence and calmness on big points appear preternatural. In reality, they are honed by practice.

Maja attributes her outstanding anticipation and court coverage to three things, none of them luck: 1. She studies her opponents 2. Instinct ("I think it's natural") 3. She watches a lot of tennis, always has done ("it really helps me with reading the game better") www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVr7...
