“ @nytimes.com casts doubt on the increasingly likely outcome of the midterms so when MAGA baselessly claims election fraud they can pretend they’re being reasonable” challenge:
NYT Headline: Why This Election Could Be More Complicated for Democrats Than Polls Suggest The last two midterms where Democrats surged against an unpopular Republican president were in 2006 and 2018. They had notably different outcomes.

This post? This post only explains that you didn’t understand the analogy. Hopefully my post above clarifies it. The apple isn’t your vote. The first apple is the Gaza genocide and the second apple is the other terrible consequences of electing fascist.

Of course not eating an apple is an option.
If someone tries to make me eat an apple I will treat it like the threat to my life it is and act accordingly.
I do not ever have to eat an apple because others are.
We don't have to vote either. We don't have to vote for who you want Your analogy is shite

We dislike LSU for throwing one of their players under the bus. But Minaeva isn’t exactly criticizing the war or distancing herself from Russia. Based on Russian youth athletics, I suspect a top athlete who played professional ball in Moscow is probably solidly pro-Kremlin. Per Koval:
Quote from Kate Koval’s press release: "My father serves in the Ukrainian military and takes tremendous pride in defending his country against Russian aggression. For me, this war is not distant or abstract. People close to me have been killed and wounded in Russian attacks, and places where I grew up and first began playing basketball have been destroyed by missile strikes.
"The timeline of this situation and the deeply personal effect it has had on me, my family, and those we care about who continue to live through and fight this war ultimately made me question whether LSU remained the right place for me.”

A president desperately stifling the free press in a democracy is inherently weak - afraid that the voters will discover the truth of his failures and turn against him. But @nytimes.com invariably characterizes Trump as powerful. Another way our press distorts reality in service to Trump.
New York Times headline:

How Trump Is Wielding Power to Stifle Speech
President Trump has harnessed agencies across the government to curtail press freedoms, a sweeping campaign that free speech advocates say will have lasting effects.

Apparently his suggestion to rename New Mexico is “prompting pushback” as opposed to being complete whackadoodle nonsense providing more evidence that he’s an incompetent moron. @nytimes.com insists on covering crazy as sane.

The suggestion, posted on social media, appeared to be the latest in the presidents efforts to alter geographic names.”

The cool thing about a screenshot of headlines for advocacy-group-commissioned polls is that you don’t need to defend methodology. And none of these polls grapple with the likely impact on reliable liberal Zionist voters. Anyway, independent post-election polls told a different story. 1/2
Bar chart from Tufts/CIRCLE Youth poll showing foreign policy (in the Middle-East, Ukraine, etc.) ranked well below other issues (Economy, Jobs. Healthcare, Education, Abortion, Immigration and Climate Change) for young eligible voters, and even lower for the portion of those who did not end up voting in ‘24.

According to Claude, it’s Mr. Boddy.
Claude prompt: Who is the man in the portrait behind Tim
Curry?
Reply: This is from Clue (1985), with Tim Curry as Wadsworth. That portrait isn't a real historical figure - it's a prop painted to look like Mr. Boddy, dressed in the same clothes as Wadsworth. It's a deliberate visual hint planted by the filmmakers that Wadsworth and Mr. Boddy are connected - a clue toward the Ending C" twist that Wadsworth is secretly Mr. Boddy.Still of the character “Mr. Boddy” from the movie “Clue”.

Sure, sure. So why is a Gang of 8 member meeting with the “special envoy for peace” to discuss domestic policy? Even Jeffries isn’t claiming he was acting in his capacity as a member of the Gang of 8. It’s a silly claim that you guys think helps your argument that this was appropriate. It doesn’t.
From The Hill: Jeffries said that Kushner reached out to him first, and he accepted so the pair could discuss affordability. His post emphasized, however, that House Democrats have pushed the Trump administration on issues including tariffs, the Affordable Care Act, nutritional assistance and more.
"I shouldn't have to say it, but I am. No one is going to get a pass," he said. "We're gonna follow the facts, apply the law, and be guided by the Constitution beginning on day one. And hold the crooks accountable."

Funny, that’s not what any of the articles i’ve read say this meeting was about. So what dot gov website are you referencing? www.nytimes.com/2026/08/23/u...
FROM NYT: During the recent meeting, the pair discussed housing, immigration and the high cost of living as potential areas of common ground. Mr.
Kushner suggested that Mr. Jeffries should meet with the White House chief of staff, Susie Wiles, two people with knowledge of the meeting said.
The likelihood of any compromises between the White House and Democrats on those issues seems remote.

Ernie was too hot to wait for the groomer so I trimmed him myself. It was an odyssey, beautiful and terrible. I’m convinced patches of hair grew back as I worked. And by the end I had more hair on me than Ernie had when we started. Anyway, now he looks like he’s been scrapping with large rats.

Make it make sense. If 20 votes are required to pass legislation and there are 38 Senators (19+19), what ties is the Lt. Gov. going to break? Nonbinding resolutions? Motions of order? Or is the 20 vote threshold more like the filibuster - a purely procedural hurdle?

Infuriating. TN systematically punishes its cities for their politics and diversity. The impacts are felt most by the urban poor, who are disproportionately Black. The TN GOP just seized Memphis’s school system. Now they want to eliminate its representation in Congress.

Almost like the VRA was doing what it was supposed to do! And if anyone wonders why Black representation increased so quickly in the ‘90s, it was because the Supreme Court handed down Thornburg v. Gingles in ‘86, establishing a framework for VRA Section 2 violations. 1/2

Unfortunately our forefathers foresaw this with startling clarity and still failed to build a system that prevents it.
When a man unprincipled in private life desperate in his fortune, bold in his temper, possessed of considerable talents, having the advantage of military habits—despotic in his ordinary demeanour—known to have scoffed in private at the principles of liberty— when such a man is seen to mount the hobby horse of popularity-to join in the cry of danger to liberty-to take every opportunity of embarrassing the General Government & bringing it under suspicion —to flatter and fall in with all the non sense of the zealots of the day—It may justly be suspected that his object is to throw things into confusion that he may "ride the storm and direct the whirlwind."
