It will come from community, and people working together in spite of governments and corporations acting against, until catastrophe stops them

Built or manufactured in red states with disinformation and stripping of education and other public service so they had a vulnerable population willing to believe the lies. I don’t think that’s something to take strategy notes from.

Are we really doomed?
Is it too late to do anything about climate change?

What comes next? Because while climate deniers are sowing chaos, and governments are misaligned from human and nature’s best interests the rest of us need to be building what’s next, and imagining better, investing energy in community and well-being while collapse happens around us.

Seems like some sort of paradox. Person starts a business under the stable conditions and safety nets that his province and country have established. Likely got certain benefits and credits for starting a small business in said place. Somehow thinks that conditions will be better in separation.

I also submit that starting small and every bit more helps. Start with ‘meatless mondays’ and try out new plant based recipes to get your confidence and a new rotation. Or if you think you can go meatless but really love cheese, that’s still great. Action over perfection.

This is climate change at 1.5 degrees of warming. Let’s stop burning fossil fuels.

lmrowe.bsky.social @lmrowe.bsky.social · 29/07/2026
We should stop burning fossil fuels and since the US is going to do whatever they want and then keep moving the goal posts we should tell them to stop burning fossil fuels too if they don’t like wildfire smoke. We should say Climate Change and Global Warming as much as possible.

This was in my inbox this morning with a summary that, we could make the world a better place, but economists don’t think it’s realistic. They can imagine pretend money and make a whole system on it but not taxing the rich. www.nature.com/articles/d41...

Smoky skies in Toronto have led to new scrutiny of government efforts to fight fires and manage forests. But scientists say the realistic way to tackle the smoke is fighting climate change itself.

As though we won’t die miserably due to climate change. It doesn’t have to happen, but business as usual will lead there. Like pulling their greenwashing ads means they’re not lying anymore. Enjoy the window dressing while you watch the world burn O&G

This is existential. We will die miserably if we continue with business as usual. 2 degrees by 2035 means hitting global tipping points. This doesn’t have to happen.

You can’t tell if AI is correct if you don’t have expertise in an area, and expertise is built from education and experience. AI will only replace you if you refuse to do that work, or you’ll only be as right as AI’s best answer, which is frequently not the whole picture.

Also, never let Smith and Carney forget that Smith changed Alberta laws to stop renewables in Alberta, and chased away tons of money in investments that could have helped transition. Just like politicians can make policy that halts the transition, policy change is needed to entrench the transition.
