Felt compelled to write this. On the state of things, this Reconciliation Week. First Nations people in this country are under constant attack. Subject to systems and attitudes designed to control and silence us. We resist by speaking out.

Saltbush is in full flower and the berries are appearing and ripening. Tastie little morsels if I can beat the birds, goanna and chickens to them. My lucky day today obviously. 🌱

I tried to resist writing about this particular white gazed book, but couldn't. Here's my essay on Evie Wyld's dehumanisation of Blak people, and co-option of Blak trauma for her latest sad white girl novel. The relief the MHT I use will be on the PBS come March is real. I don't use the full dose because that's not always in the budget. This means I will have full benefit from the medication. Hopefully it will make it accessible to more people experiencing perimenopause & postmenpausal symptoms.

A baby pink and grey galah turned up in my backyard and it was the smallest I'd seen without parents. It seemed healthy and could fly but not strong enough to keep up with the others. It's had refuge here and each day it gets stronger. Happy my garden is a safe haven.

Volunteered to prick out and pot up native plants for future revegetation projects & stock the local community nursery. Honoured to be trusted with 103 Eucalyptus Rudis babies 🌱. One day they will be up to 20 metres tall & provide critters with food and shelter. How cool is that!
Cell tray of Eucalyptus Rudis seedlings at different stages of growth. Cover of the how to booklet provided by the nursery with an acknowledgement of country of the Wardandi people who have cared for these plants long before colonisation. The impact of that colonisation has meant we need nurseries like LCN to try to keep these plants where they should be.A view of the worktable with empty tubes ready to be filled with soil sitting in buckets and others already hard at work pricking out seedlings. I sat with many distressed people today. All for different reasons but the feeling triggered for them all was loneliness, rejection and deep loss. It's a hard time of year for people whose families may not be safe spaces. Don't judge, just take some time to see and hear people where they are.

Came home, opened the gate and out of nowhere a dog appeared. Brought him in to call his owners. Odie had the contact number stitched in his collar. Good idea. Kerry blue terrier. Had to fashion a leash as he got the scent of the quenda that live in my backyard and wanted to hunt them.
