A paper that, in my opinion, falls in the ‘must read’ category 👌🏼 Social support and therapeutic relationships intertwine to influence exercise behavior in people with sport-related knee injuries: Physiotherapy Theory and Practice: Vol 41, No 1 www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1...

remember how important social support can be during rehab, esp long rehabs like post-ACL injury or surgery! @lktphysio.bsky.social walks us through tips and tricks on social support.
dr. linda truong stands beside her title slide which states “thinking big picture: social factors + therapeutic relationships for RTS and long-term athlete health”slide titled “what is social support?”

it is an exchange of resources between two individuals to be intended to enhance the well-being of the recipient. consider two subcategories of social support: 1) received support and 2) perceived support.slide recapping one of linda’s publications. it reviews how there are personal relationships, professional relationships, and an evolution of relationships that patients and clinicians experience during rehab. all of these are part of the therapeutic relationship!slide titled “take home messages”

it lists four messages including 1) treating patients beyond their physical impairments, 2) addressing social components of recovery to boost odds of RTS, 3) considering long-term knee health, and 4) adapting how your role changes during rehab from expert to supporter.

love to see what my work wife is up to 😉 follow @lktphysio.bsky.social for updates on her post doc research in digital health!
linda standing beside her title slide, “DigiMSK: MSK CARE Clinic: Getting patients the right care at the right time from the right providers.”slide titled “viewing musculoskeletal health from a health systems lens” — in short, lots of people with MSK injuries go to the emergency department in canada… but there might be a better way of getting care. slide titled “access to high-quality MSK care” — linda’s post doc project is looking at developing “digiMSK”, a virtual platform for primary care of MSK injuries, and “MSK CARE clinic”, a clinic of advanced practice physiotherapists who are trained to triage MSK injuries. slide titled “access to high-quality MSK care” — the goal of the MSK comprehensive assessment and response emergency (MSK CARE) clinic is to provide high-quality care to those presenting to the emergency department with low-acuity (i.e., severity) MSK conditions.
