May be a hot take, IDK, but I feel like a lot of trans women, especially younger and or newly hatched, actually mean "I want to look hot" when they say "I want to pass". It's absolutely a valid goal! But it actually is a bit in opposition to the idea of "passing for safety".

Reasonable Democrats are going to have to get off their couches, roll up their sleeves and start organizing real voters on the ground.
We can no longer rely only on TV ads, digital spend and endorsements. Just donating from afar and complaining about the DSA won't cut it.
The DSA (Democratic Socialists of America) can beat moderates in a growing number of blue strongholds.
Why? Because the DSA has patiently built an army of on-the-ground organizers - who go to meetings, help each other, study together and THEN work to turn out voters on Election Day. That army grows every day - election or no election. Their investment in real people grows (and compounds) with each election cycle. The DSA has a bigger army, every time, win or lose.
But at the end of any election, all moderate Dems have for their efforts is a bunch of ads that nobody will ever see again. That's not going to work anymore.
If you are a Democrat who believes in opportunity, dignity and democracy for all — but you don't hate rich people, cops, free enterprise, the West, Israel and the United States of America - I'm talking to you!

A high school friend who was my first friend who I knew was trans gave me some advice when I hatched... she'd been like, 20 years in by then. And it was to, to the greatest extent possible, not think about or worry about "passing". She did but also she started young and more in the old days.

I usually say something about "I'd hoped to hate my body less" and, maybe; that's a goal though. I think that once I figured it out, it was too obvious to deny. I mean, medical transition or not was a detail but, to my way of thinking, some sort of transition was inevitable as sunrise.

A lot of feelings this morning about the accessibility of gender affirming surgeries. Like, I'm doing pretty OK, I have a STEM career I'm a decade and a half into, I was able to swing a house back before rates went ridiculous. Not bragging, just perspective. ... GAS is out of reach for me.
