Art challenge month is upon us, and I can never decide if I should try to do one, or which set of prompts to follow. This one combined oak and blackbird from calmtober. Oak was also on the peachtober list, so we shall see how this month develops. #calmtober #peachtober

Took one of my little painting kits to the park to paint the cherry tree. This particular kit is in a Star Wars lunchbox and perfectly fits a 5 x 7 piece of paper. All my supplies and my watercolor paper are packed in the lunchbox so it’s always ready to go. #pleinair #urbansketching

At the start of every month I think, “I’m going to make more art and post more!” Here’s a comic to express how I feel about trying to be creative these days.

Pangolins are the most trafficked animal in the world, and are endangered. World Pangolin Day aims to raise awareness of pangolins. And hey, I wrote a book about them! They really are incredible animals! #pangolin #worldpangolinday

Some tiny paintings from the beach around sunset a couple of weeks ago. It was cold and they took way too long to dry, so I’m learning to use a lot less water in my washes as the weather gets colder. Also I saw a seal so that was neat #pleinair

My small plein air kit - it’s in a repurposed wooden box and holds a Winsor and Newton watercolor set, a few brushes, a small water container and a sponge. I rubber band a tiny watercolor sketchbook to the inside lid. #pleinair

A couple of weeks ago, I took one of my painting kits to the park to paint the fall foliage. Yes, it is just a cardboard box with a lot of stuff taped to it, but it’s all self contained and low budget! #pleinair #gouache
