Casting my net increasingly wide to try and see Digger at the weekend. It seems only available to those free in the day. Though if you want a film with a climate change subplot, I recommend Pressure.

Daily attendance at a job centre would cost 30- 60% of UC for someone in a rural area, just to get there. Unintended consequence: parents work for longer, thereby not freeing up jobs for young people 🤷‍♀️

Go to ‘Pressure’ to see the fabulous Andrew Scott and a new angle on D-Day, come away with a #climatechange parable incorporating data, risk management, treatment of naysayers, speaking truth to power and more data.

Remember the workshops on ‘barriers to retrofit’? I’m doing one on barriers to resilience next week. We need to move so much faster (on both). And my job at home today: rearranging my food store in my basement to allow for risk of El Niño rain and floods. I’m 50% Prepper 50% Home Edit ROYGBIV

Now what we can do, because again this is a grand national tradition, is rudely nickname people in a way that is *obviously a nickname*, and one that we, as culture, apply pretty universally to people we do and don’t like. it’s fair game because it’s equal. bsky.app/profile/mark...

Not sure my MP turning up with a Reform gang to win the local pub quiz is the vote-winner he thinks it is. He perhaps needs to hang out with friends of an evening rather than turn every event political.

Anyone who enjoys geo-guessing games, and has knowledge of the Scottish Highlands, where is this spot - Braes O Mar - obviously I know roughly but want to visit this view. Perhaps painted for Queen Vic, but in my family as payment for a booze bill. So the story goes

Just seen Jane Horrocks in The Gentleman and hope to see her as Miss Marple one day. I say this as someone who is only alive due to this lady (my grandparents met at her wedding) so feel qualified to make the casting call.

Just seen him at our local dragon boat race. The Reform team (wearing turquoise football shirts with Farage 10 on the back) couldn’t even be honest about who they were, they had signed up under the name of a company that appear to be a US healthcare company. Odd for a local charity event.

After local station staff accusing my SEN son of lying about his age on his railcard, accusing him of smelling of weed and lots of them sniffing him and then calling the police because, surprise, he got angry at being called a liar, I may have come round to ID cards. Police took his details anyway.

In a #healthyhomes APPG, interesting to hear furniture fire retardant chemicals come up. At one point I had to chose between scaling up my small upholstery business and returning to energy efficiency, and the fear of working with the chemicals impregnated in upholstery materials deffo played a part.

Delighted to hear #neurodivergence included in summaries of vulnerabilities in both APPGs I’m at this evening on #fuelpoverty / #healthyhomes. It’s missing in #ConsumerProtectionReform, but is a factor both in consumer need for #retrofit and how programmes are designed. Any good reads on this?

#Transport maths for rural living. If your city offers a great deal of an annual u19 Robin Hood pass for train + tram + bus for £400 but the cost of a pass for the 1.5 train stops to get to the limits of the city triples that, is that a win, a loss or a PITA. #EMCCA #nottingham #countrylife

When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

I wouldn't call myself a cartoonist, but I had the vision and just needed it to be on paper to the best of my ability.
A hand drawn eight panel cartoon. First two panels are a colander sitting frowning on a shelf. Then the colander is frowning straining pasta, then three more panels of frowning sitting on a shelf. Then a big panel where it's projecting a bunch of crescent eclipse shapes and smiling with speech bubbles around saying "Wow! Look! Amazing! Beautiful!" And then one final panel where it's sitting on a shelf smiling.

Last night I learned a distant relative was the only member of Guernsey’s governing committee during the Occupation to vote against the Nazi’s anti-Jewish orders. That explains and excuses my obstinate, principled streak then. Shame I didn’t know this at my last review…

As an SME bidding for council work this is not the conclusion I’d have reached. Increasing social value to 20% will benefit large cos. SMEs want (need) to focus on their core business, on things that pay the bills. If govt wants something, procure it and (transparently) pay for it.

And yet government policy appears to be to make it a low impact data point on the EPC, not address it in product policy. Perhaps require gas hobs to have at least 50% induction rings, as so often the policy answer is ‘hybrid’. Take the mystery away - induction is quick and responsive, and clean.

Most shocking thing about having my car stolen is the lack of accountability on car manufacturers. It seems the answer for keyless ignition is to use wheel locks or an immobiliser that requires a fob. Maybe keys were a good thing?

If you’re in the market for a second hand #EV, and find yourself test driving an EV6 with very loud and warm a/c - a) don’t buy it, and b) it’s mine. Bstds nicked it last night. May the a/c always be warm, the boot shut on their head w/out warning & the 12v battery fail them. As it did for me
