My darling mum, Norah, died on Sunday morning, aged 85, just four days after the 12th anniversary of losing Dad. She had been ill for a long time, with many different things, and it was not unexpected, but all the same... I will miss her terribly and for a long, long time. Pic with my niece 💔

She sent us to the urgent treatment centre in town. They sent us to Winchester because they thought he needed to see a plastic surgeon. We waited five hours with all the other evacuees from Southampton, then a nurse stuck a butterfly on him and sent us home! He has a little scar now. It's fine.

I might be a bit Wee John but I was quite excited to open the bedroom curtains to this a few weeks ago, which was a different sort of start to the day. Then we had a power cut because it was the substation at the bottom of the 5G mast that had caused the fire. That bit was less exciting.

Started trying to sort out the understairs cupboard. Immediately regret. So much regret. How did we end up with all this shit? There's about 10 hdmi cables. Why? Actually, I know why. It's because of Mr LizerD saying "but what if we need it one day?". He's in London tonight though so 🚮

I live between the Rivers Itchen & Test, but I'll pick the Test as it's the one I fell in on 29 Dec 2016, at Mottisfont Abbey, right in front of the children's playground so with a big audience for the time of year. At the visitor centre they said I'm the only adult known to have done this.

I don't think we've had enough snow here to make a snowball since 2018. My youngest is standing in it here - he's 12 now and hasn't really seen snow since! Deprived childhood!

Awwwww, so cute! How old? When Lily was about that age she managed to eat an entire lanyard from Weymouth SeaLife Centre and had to have a big op to remove it. Her brother, Charlie, walks over my keyboard every day at 3.30pm, wrecking my work. I don't know why I like them so much.

Happy #TaikaTuesday to all the Taikaholics who did not knock a whole, fresh cup of extremely hot tea all over their right hand this afternoon, comprehensively ruining their day. Having a quantity of lovely new Taika to gawp at has helped, but I'm going to pull out a classic serotonin boost...

Happy #TaikaTuesday on the day we learned that there was, in fact, a concealed crotch zipper in the cutest onesie ever worn by a grown man.

I'm going to have to tip them all out in a few weeks and replant with fresh compost. There's supposed to be a herb tub (bay, rosemary, thyme, one with a rose and Mexican fleabane, and one with hardy geraniums and a peony. Hopefully they will survive the potato incursion.

I don't often post pics of my kids on social media, but we were in the same garden today as 10 yrs ago, and they sabotaged all attempts to recreate a pic so I'm sharing the little rotters. These were the most normal of ten attempts. The original bench has vanished so it was futile from the start!
