IDK if it works for yinz, but when I was experimenting with anime outlines, I used an SDF for the inner line-work (generated from hand-draw inks with hacky c-program I wrote), whose threshold is modulated by depth.

I think the animals that are sort of recognizably mammals under several layers of uncanny, impossible legs are actually worse than totally incomprehensible animals

Evolution in my simplified model of an ecosystem tends to defy my assumptions about what animals should look like. For example, perception at the moment does not account for binocular vision, eye size, or even which direction the eyes are looking, so animals rarely end up with two eyes on their head
A striped blue animal with two webbed legs, a third similar leg sticking out of the top of its head, a sort of flat horn, several rounded spines on the bottom of its body, and a teeny tiny red eye. If this sounds confusing, it's because the animal looks really confusing. It stands on a yellow rounded planet in front of water, with several magenta eggs behind it

One challenging thing about letting organisms evolve over generations is that this is a legal way to move, and has outcompeted every other animal in the simulation

I feel like the main struggle developers have when trying to write marketing copy is that they are describing the game they made instead of the player's experience of it

About two weeks ago I took my greyhound to get x-rays for his worsening limp and learned he has bone cancer. Last week he had his leg amputated. (He’s doing well!) It’s shocking how quickly everything happened. I’m hopeful that we get at least another year with him. Hug your pets; time goes fast

Alright, let's test this new video compression! Here's a swarm of 1,600 procedurally animated butterflies. Back in old Blender before things like simulation and repeat zones, something like this was very difficult. It's procgen bottom to top. #Blender #CreativeCoding #ProcGen
