The lizards will never have to worry about going hungry as long as I can successfully keep the beetles out of the roach tank. Attempt 2 at separating out eggs/worms before they turn into beetles and make more eggs.

A glass 18 by 18 by 18 inch tank full of dubia roaches of various ages. They cover the two small hollow pumpkins and piece of bark and gather at the edges. I think 1000 roaches would not be an overestimation.

Hugged a savvy monitor, a boa constrictor (and got hugged back), a rat snake, a tegu, and a dear friend. Excellent Talk Like a Pirate Day! Even stopped to see some stars on the way back to our light pollution.

We're given a receipt & bag of ??? from the victim. We're trapped in a loop until we can save them, too.🤯

Baby girl got a redecoration! She spends most of her time at the front of her home so I kept what she likes mostly the same, but redid the back to see if she'll explore more often. The plants have really settled in!

A black pvc 3 foot by 2 foot by 18 inches enclosure with clear sliding front doors. The back has a 2 foot long styrofoam decoration wall leaning against it. There are two large pieces of cork stacked in the back, an aquarium log and a vivarium log in the center and right, center left has a spiderplant who's seen better days and a heat mat with tile on top and a coconut hide on top of that. Front center is a wood tunnel, right of that is a smaller spider plant with white edges, and front right is a dry ceramic water dish with magnolia leaves and a fake fern in it.

The same enclosure but the large spider plant has been trimmed down so it has fewer, healthier leaves reaching up to the ceiling with baby plants sprouting from it and resting on a large piece of cork in the back center. A medium piece of cork balances on the right end of that cork and on the vivarium log tunnel that remains on the right side of the enclosure but rotated 180 degrees. A fake fern is stuck into the corner bringing shade back there. Back left is the aquarium log that also sits on the heat mat tile with a coconut hide in the back corner. In the center is a second large piece of cork that makes a left to right tunnel. In front of that is a cardboard chocolate covered cherries box that acts as a nice lizard bed. To the right of that not visible is a gray water dish. Front left is a coconut hide on smooth substrate with space for the dice bag sleeping bag, the same wooden tunnel is front center but raised a but higher to keep it dry, the smaller spider plant is only a couple inches from touching the ceiling now, and the dry water dish and fake fern are still front right. The UV light strip has become more centered vs forward while the heat lamp moved from the back right to front right nearer the fake fern in the dish.

Avocado 🥑 🪳 The dubias ran from it as though it were a monster, then devoured it overnight. 🦗 The crickets went for it immediately and were still eating it the next day but they didn't eat much.

TIL husband actually likes cockroaches enough to hold them! I'm trying to get the dubias switched to their own tank as their tank is heavily full of small black beetles who are overbreeding due to all the food. BUT I accidentally left a tank full of males cracked open and we had a jail break. Oops!🪳

CW 💉badness *frustrates noises* I took my big girl 🦎 in for a regular checkup at the vet to get a baseline blood sample for a CBC at a time that she isn't sick or recovering BUT the lab can't run it for some reason. They had to stab her tail TWICE and wiggle it all around to get that sample. 1/2

Regular use would be my grandparents' furniture set, specifically their desk that my husband uses. They moved to the US in the 50s so it probably isn't older than that, but the style feels more 70s. It's solid and thriving after at least 5 moves around the country. My lamp is full of seashells 🤔

Now that my 2 9year olds 🦎 have their upgraded rooms it's time to celebrate the 5 year gotcha-versary of my other 2 by finally getting them their own rooms! They've co-habbed well enough but I can tell they're more relaxed when separated. Toad Ranch are providing room #2 and I can't wait to get it!

A 4 by 2 by 2 foot black PVC reptile enclosure by Toad Ranch. The screenshot model has air vents in the back and a solid top while mine will have a screen top and no vents. There are guides for the glass doors in the front opening of the tank though the doors aren't pictured, and a golden Toad Ranch medallion in the bottom right corner of the front panel.

Seeing wildlife in the yard (outside the garden) makes me so happy! These two are enjoying snacking on the weeds and grasses as well as trying tp stay cool. Mid-80s isn't great fur weather.

A wild rabbit standing on their back legs sniffing all the good smells coming from my garden. They stand behind 2 fences: chicken wire for them (added last year) and garden mesh for the ground squirrels and voles (added this month).

2 months later and my stockpile of frozen bug food grows! The house warmed up so it was time to cut up the remaining pumpkin, then bonus watermelon from Aldi, and my husband's forgotten baby carrots. These bugs are living the good life for the small expense of a few children here and there...
