well, minus dropping some mounting hardware on the floor and crawling around for an hour that was completely doable. i wouldn't recommend it to a complete novice but there's nothing involved that's particularly difficult

OK so the pull tabs for the battery adhesive were a fucking joke lol but the old battery is officially out. gave everything a deep clean too (there was a lot of built up gunk around/behind the trackpad)
