My keyboard has been Replaced.
Photo of my desk from above. A white and brown tabby cat is contentedly lying on my desk with her head on my arm and her feet stretching out in front of her. I visibly can no longer reach my keyboard.Point of view shot of my desk. The entire lower half of the photo is occupied by a white and brown tabby cat, whose little foot is resting in my left hand, which itself is barely visible beyond the cat. She appears to be trying to press the space bar of the keyboard with her other foot. The keyboard has been evacuated for its own safety.

Tests because I was bored waiting for my boss to get me the credentials I need to do an assignment. The Dell scored well given how clunky it feels with Windows 11. I didn't realize the Linuxbook's specs were better than the tinylaptop's. Maybe I can get more adventurous with what I try to run on it.
Table comparing CPU, GPU, and RAM benchmark results for the super-expensive Dell laptop I was assigned for work, my refurbished hacked Chromebook with linux on it, and my tiny GPD Pocket 3 microlaptop.

@catwif3.bsky.social anything in specific you usually struggle with about them? The general idea, which you've probably heard, is to get your composition down before starting the real effortful thing, and take the opportunity to see how different […] [Original post on feed.bonyfish.net]

Okay last one, for real.
Screenshot of a Genius Lyrics annotation, reading: "On the surface, this seems like another earnest, innocent expression of Dr. Worm’s interests, though I’d propose that it additionally raises questions about Dr. Worm’s abilities. Given that we know he is an “actual worm,” how exactly does he play the drums? Does he wear some sort of apparatus that would allow him to manipulate the sticks? Is telekinesis at play?
This line deepens the mythos and mystique surrounding Dr. Worm as a speaker and phenomenon."

Response by user SilentExplosive (Marked as a stretch):
"Who are you to say who can or can’t play the drums? Personally, I am a worm and I play the drums."

I swear I'll stop posting screenshots of "Doctor Worm" genius annotations momentarily but this one is too good.
Screenshot of a Genius Lyrics annotation, reading: "when he is not playing the drum, dr worm is aerating the soil and participating in the decomposing stage of the energy cycle". For some reason, the annotation is unreviewed.

I'm riveted.
Screenshot of a Genius Lyrics annotation, reading: "This line adds depth to Doctor Worm’s character and raises some interesting questions about his identity. Is Doctor his first name? Is his medical practice a ruse? Regardless, he is certainly a bona fide worm, capable of either lying about his certifications or understanding the difference between a 'real' doctor and someone who is not."

Important scholarship occurring on the Genius Lyrics page for Doctor Worm.
Screenshot of an annotation from Genius Lyrics, reading: "Right off the bat, Dr. Worm leads with his ethos. Before introducing himself formally, Dr. Worm wants us to know that he is called Dr. Worm by others, that he’s credible, an established member of at least some social circles in which he is known primarily as 'Doctor Worm.'

Of course, this is later complicated by the lyric immediately after the guitar solo: 'Someday, somebody else besides me / Will call me by my stage name,' suggesting rather tragically that not even his friend Rabbi Vole refers to him by his stage name."

I forgot to update y'all on this but here's the clearest photo from that experiment, which was over-exposed by 5 or 6 stops.
A dark and moody black-and-white photograph of a mushroom with a wide, flat cap that looms a bit like a pancake. The depth of field is very narrow and the image has an almost foggy appearance. Looks a bit like something recovered from a shipwreck.

You can draw whatever you want. And no one can stop you. That's the beauty of art. The beauty of the sea, however, is her:

One of my favorite things about "The Highwayman" is the lushness of the descriptions. Alfred Noyes spent a whole stanza describing the titular highwayman's outfit, AND HE WAS RIGHT TO DO SO!!

We got back from our trip to Italy and I plumb slept until 3pm. Here's a picture Holly took of me at a ruined castle!
Photo of me, a dark-haired guy with stubble and tattoos, grinning and standing in front of a dip in an old stone wall, resting my arm on one side. I'm wearing a shirt with fish on it (a souvenir!) and have a film camera hanging from a strap over my shoulder. Behind me is a distant view of a mountain and clouds, and a bit of the city of Salerno from above.

Commission for dear pal @thestarfishface.bsky.social !! A companion to the art trade piece of her character Lapis from a bit ago. This one is Laz, Lapis' mysterious counterpart/foil/???, with Adonis annua, which has a variety of common names including, pertinently, "blooddrops".
Drawing of a slim, pale person with chin-length red hair partly pulled back in a ponytail. Their clothing is black and gray, and they look wistfully and sullenly off to the right. Their left hand is clutching a dagger. They are depicted surrounded by eight-petaled red-orange Adonis annua flowers, which have leaves that look like grasping branches. One flower petal is falling from below them like a drop of blood.

Of course it did take me a bit of effort to dial in my setup. Here is a diagram of my first attempts to digitize half-frame negatives with my digital camera and the resultant scan of that same negative.
Slightly scribbly, meticulously labeled diagram of my absolutely barbarian initial camera scanning setup. A digital camera is mounted on a tripod, pointing down. Attached to the camera is a stack consisting of a K-to-E-mount adapter, a vintage macro converter, and a nice vintage Pentax lens. This apparatus is pointed at a Pixel 6 phone, on which sit 2 spools of sewing thread, on which are balanced a strip of film, which is flattened by sandwiching each end between two taped-together popsicle sticks. The phone is open to whitescreen.online at maximum brightness.Close-up of some sort of rusted wheel. The colors are very bright, but the edges of objects are sort of fuzzy and crunchy.

A 6-panel autobio comic featuring myself, a kind of scruffy tattooed guy in a black tank top and shorts. We begin in a black car in the shade of a single tree. Close-up of a phone open to a gig delivery app showing no orders. (This one-horse town is deserted.) Our hero (me) leans back in the driver's seat, exhausted, hands over face. Suddenly: a notification! Our hero examines the phone, only to find that it is not a new order. Instead, the whole screen of the phone is lit up with the words, "DO YOU WANT TO LIVE?"

Today in Pathfinder, Zhia'a had to be on his best behavior at a fancy party and mostly did a great job! (He did on one occasion fail to perform a backflip for a merchant he was trying to impress.)
